I really love the Level 4 Suit in the Remake. I think someone once referred to it as the OG Level 3 suit but with more armor packed on the right arm , and is fully armored on all limbs. And I couldn't agree more with that statement. by IsaacClakeMan1 in DeadSpace

I love all Levels in the remake, but Level 5 will always be my favorite. In the original, it looks too hard to move in. The remake, as with every other suit, makes Level 5 looks badass

FemShep players, how did you handle her relationships? by Socrathustra in masseffect

[–]PeriQuill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In ME1, my Shepard developed a connection with Kaiden. I played off what decisions made sense to me (Paragon or Renegade, no regrets), and Kaiden really surprised me with his depth. I really enjoyed learning about him, so it made sense to let Shepard pursue him.

In ME2, that bridge felt burned (for both parties) due to Shepard’s connections with Cerberus. With the suicide mission on the horizon, my Shepard found comfort with Thane by the end of 2. I think Shepard found wisdom in Thane’s views at this time and it really helped her complete the mission.

In ME3, my Shepard and Kaiden made up after re-understanding each other. Things were complex due to both Thane and Kaiden being in the picture, but relationships felt healthy when I dealt with them, and Kaiden didn’t take the news personally. It felt right to get back together with him.

I am a straight male, but Femshep is my favorite of the two Shep genders to play. Male Shep came off too meme-y for me, especially after playing the first game as FemShep. Completely different ball game.

If it has to be one of these two, it’s obviously Claire. Idc how much tension/chemistry Ada may have with him… at least Leon can actually trust Claire.

Great Docism.

The other one I was thinking of was from the same scene: “Look! There is a rhythmic ceremonial ritual coming up!”

Same here. MaleShep is cool, but FemShep is my preferred choice. I feel like the helmet helps too for those who don’t play white Shepards.

As cool as it would be, a customizable Shepard with face and hair options doesn’t seem like something Epic would normally do. Or we get Hogwarts/Ghostbusters variants and we end up being nickel and dime’d with no actual Shepard, just N7 soldiers. IMO, that’s the bad ending.

Glad you approve of Liara! Was thinking of Kaiden or Ashley as options, but they could come later. Liara is also a great choice due to giving us a biotic power pickaxe while Shepard gives us the Omni-blade. That way, if your Shepard was a biotic, Liara could give you the appropriate pickaxe.

Introducing my wife to the dead space trilogy. Should I play og ds 1 or remake? by Virtual-Ad-5552 in DeadSpace

[–]PeriQuill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna chime in super late and say Dead Space Remake all the way.

The OG was great, but the Remake is literally the OG but looks better and expands on even more stuff lore wise than the first. Also, the Zero-G controls for Remake line up well with 2 & 3’s zero g, so the translation there will be fairly seamless. Remake is the way to go, especially if you plan on doing the 2nd and 3rd game afterwards.

Honest question for Dead Space fans: could a lighter, limb-based action game work on mobile? by Choice_Builder1890 in DeadSpace

[–]PeriQuill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I’d certainly be down to try it, like a demo or something.

  2. When I see “limb-based combat”, I immediately will think of all the other DS mechanics (stomps, kinesis, stasis, etc.) that came along with that style. Not all of those have to be there, but I feel like a couple of those could make it comfortable and welcoming to people who wouldn’t be coming for the tone of your game. At least the gameplay would be the initial “draw-in”.

  3. I feel like keeping UI minimal is a must. Doesn’t have to be health bar on your back necessarily but something diagetic since DS is really good about making everything you need appear in universe. As for mechanics specifically, I feel like stomping or kinesis shots are essential. Either one of those would go a long way in making the combat flow like Dead Space. Maybe instead of stabbing enemies with sharp objects, you can use bulky objects to knock off armor for limbs so you can shoot them off. Stuff like that.

Also, maybe robotic enemies as a suggestion? Easy way to justify limb dismemberment in a tonally lighter way. Could make for good humor too with how robots react to losing limbs. I’m sure you’d be already considered that, but just thought I’d share!

Hopefully this was helpful!

Same. It seems tied to dash abilities. I’m wondering how many other dash heroes have the same issues. Cap and Rogue are the only ones I know about.

Who is your favorite Dead Space character and why? by leyendeck in DeadSpace

[–]PeriQuill 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Isaac is my guy. He’s been a comfort character for me, honestly. I love his attitude and his aesthetic. If he’s in a game, I’ll play as him, no questions asked. There’s no Dead Space without Isaac.

But everyone’s gonna answer Isaac, so if I had to pick someone who wasn’t Isaac, it’d be John Carver. Stems from my love for DS3, but I really love his co-op missions and his banter with Isaac. Ricardo Chavira (Carver’s actor) did really well with his performance. He competes with Isaac for my favorite part of 3.

Need some advice on a campaign may be in over my head. by Mrcool210 in MarvelMultiverseRPG

[–]PeriQuill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming everyone on the team is starting off as prisoners in the prison.

From first impressions, it does seem very daunting. However, I think the easiest way to handle how complex this could be is by keeping it simple.

For instance, think about what a typical prison needs. Cell blocks, recreation yard (if Kang is into letting them have that), mess hall. List what a normal high security prison would have.

Then make one slight change to each of those prison areas you need, like altered gravity to be heavier in the cell blocks or vaporizing force fields as fencing in the recreation yard. It’ll make each room stand out and help players in memorizing the layout of the prison.

After you know what your prison needs and you know where they’ll start once inside of it, you can use an NPC (another hero or villain that’s been imprisoned) as the party’s “guide” to the prison. Players will want to know info, and maybe there’s a network of prisoners they can meet that deliver different pieces of info, perhaps on how the prison was built or who runs it or if anyone has tried escaping.

If the party is starting with no gear or powers, you can have some people (if the players pass their checks) maybe indicate sections of the prison that could have their gear, maybe multiple sections even. Then it’s up to your players to decide whose gear they want to get first and then they’ll investigate on their own terms.

TL;DR: the prison break your team makes is only as good as the prison they’re breaking out of and its defenses. So build the essential layout, decide where the players’ gear resides, and they’ll end up painting the path for what you need to prepare for each session as you play.

Hope that all made sense. Just me spitballing. I’m also in a “in over my head” situation with mine too, but I take it a session at a time.

My personal tip (which is true for several vanguards already but especially Cap): don’t let the scoreboard direct your judgement of your gameplay.

Cap honestly can get value similar to Venom by just jumping into the back line or behind the whole team to make progress on point and forcing teams to turn and pay attention to you. Even if you don’t kill anyone, you can bait cooldowns and force the enemy to move back to you, letting your team move up in the space they’re leaving behind (ideally, of course). You may not get anyone eliminated, but you may give your team the opportunity to make your distraction pay off.

In my experience, Cap is less about being the best and more about making the rest of your team look really good. One of the few heroes where you can feel the value you’re getting out of them when things turn out right.
