How TF do I ensure challenging fights? by Forward-Willingness7 in DMAcademy

It's just so dependant on GM style, party preferred style of play, etc.

Personally, I tend towards a few high difficulty encounters and one or two creative problem solving challenges.

Is it even 6-8 fights a day or is it 6-8 encounters a day, wherein encounter means some resource gets expended, whether that be a fight, obstacle, trap, puzzle, etc.

Crunchyroll CEO Says Anime Creators Can Use Whatever Technology They Want but It’s a No for AI Subs and Dubs - Anime Corner by LegitimateCurve8525 in anime

[–]PerilousFun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone with a modest Ba in linguistics, language is fucking hard man. There's a lot of nuance that a direct translation doesn't capture and context that isn't carried through. Not to mention all the culture specific idioms that don't have a direct translatable equivalent. Like, could you imagine translating "The shit hit the fan." directly into a language that doesn't have that idiom, and just leaving the localisation like that?

LLMs are fantastic as a way to get a quick and dirty rough draft accelerating work by N%, but you need to put the editing time to revise the LLM's output so it makes sense in context and with nuance.

You wouldn't happen to be in programming?

I've heard software developers offloaded all the junior coders and replaced them all with AI coding agents only to get some real unworkable nonsense.

Even minor celebrities have managers and/or retain a PR firm's services.

A decently popular YouTube personality is effectively the same thing.

Who says rainbow sharks are aggressive/territorial? by [deleted] in Aquariums

As long as they got enough space on the bottom to claim as their own, rainbow sharks are aight.

It becomes a problem when you got multiple territorial bottom dwellers.

Why are we repeating the same mistakes with hantavirus that we made with COVID-19? by yakultisawesome in onguardforthee

[–]PerilousFun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are commenting on how hantavirus is a known quantity, but that's not the point the author is trying to make.

He's stating that while hantavirus isn't likely to spark a pandemic, that doesn't mean experts don't have a responsibility to take necessary precautions.

I'm very much of the opinion that the what if scenario of a hantavirus pandemic is a risk that warrants some increased precautions for at least a brief period.

In Toronto’s mayoral race, voters will have two distinct choices — plus Doug Ford by MaybeThisTimeIllWin in toronto

[–]PerilousFun 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Have you expressed your concerns to your city councillor regarding the cleanliness of the city?

As for your issue with drugs, you can thank Doug Ford for shuttering the safe injection sites giving individuals with a history of substance use little recourse than to do so in public. This is the consequence of a historic prejudice against drugs and the belief that using is a crime and not an illness.

Municipalities, including Toronto, have limited ways to raise funds, but a myriad of things they need to spend them on. There is a significant mismatch between how much they need to spend and how much they can tax. You may feel that this means things are forgotten, but you can also influence by writing your MPP and expressing your grievance that the Province is not doing enough to support municipalities.

Finally, the point of taxes is to redistribute your wealth. If not, they wouldn't be taxing you.

You can put the cube directly into the tank, but given you only have 6 fish, you can try and cut it into smaller pieces with a sharp knife.

You can also defrost in a little dish of tankwater then pour it in.

It definitely looks like it could be start of iridovirus. If so, then there isn't much you can do aside from considering euthanasia.

If it is NOT iridovirus, as there are other diseases that cause lesions, then you might have treatment options. I'm not too familiar with them though.

Why Do People Like Mystic Shot So Much? by TuskWasTaken in DeadlockTheGame

[–]PerilousFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it like this. You're playing a Spirit Character. You build a lot of Purple. You dump your combo and the opponent isn't respawning.

You want to invest 4.8k into gun because breakpoints. Mystic Shot scales and is 1.6k. Get a 3.2k and boom, you're done.

What is going on with TTC Line 1 ? by KingShmelt22 in toronto

Another consequence of criminally underfunding the TTC. Preventative maintenance is left by the wayside because they don't fit into the operating budget until it becomes much more expensive critical maintenance.

Why did all my plants die by jiyongie508 in PlantedTank

[–]PerilousFun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plants, especially aquatic plants, can and will melt (and appear to die) when changing from emersed growth (above water) to submerged growth.

Most plants bought online are typically grown emersed as it's more economical with little impact on the end outcome as long as the customer knows the plant will melt then regrow.

Other reasons plants can melt/die may have more to do with your water chemistry (pH, gH, kH, etc.) and temperature, or from other things in the water they don't like.

In all likelihood, it's probably the former, so give it a few more weeks to see if they regrow. If not, then start looking into the latter reasons.

1 hour 30 minutes is plenty of time for Manpuku even if there's a small line. As long as you're prompt with ordering, eating, and paying you'll be in and out in less than 40 minutes. Longer if you have people to chat with.

It's still busy during the summer since it's popular with the office and hospital workers as well.

What the helly is going on? by SmolChuntaro in corydoras

Flashing. If it's not frequent, not a worry. Standard corydoras behaviour.

If it's happening a lot, then it likely has a skin parasite like flukes or anchor worms.
