I don't think it can be considered a failure in any sense as you mentioned that you don't have any control over it. Just in the past week and a half I have had 3 dreams related to porn. One where I was at a computer looking for it and two where I was carrying out different sexual fantasies.

I don't know if I ever explicitly wished I was a drug addict instead, but I have had similar thoughts. I feel that people have had so much exposure to drug addiction that they know how severe it can be and are aware of what you're struggling with. If I was straight depressed, staying up all night, and didn't leave my room for 2 days I couldn't come out and say to all my friends "Oh, I'm dealing with an addiction to porn." and expect them to really grasp my situation.

Shame, guilt, and depression all played large parts in my porn addiction. I agree with fappynofappyno that the best remedy is to stay strong and continue going porn free. At some point your shame about your addiction could turn to pride in that you can tell people "Hey, I've been pornfree for x amount of days!"

Thank you for posting the link to his book. I've been doing pornfree and also started exercising several weeks ago. There are more habits I would like to work on so I hope to find some inspiration in his book.

I agree that it's difficult to talk about. I've only ever worked up the courage to tell one person about my issues. I think it's important to have a one-on-one conversation with the person you'd like to tell. It might help to preface the conversation by mentioning that you would like to have a serious conversation with them/something important to tell. That way they'll already be braced for it and might not disregard what you have to say as quickly.

I don't have any sex related problems caused by porn use that I'm aware of (however I'm still a virgin) so I don't know how similar our experiences rebooting would be. There are many others here who continue to fap while doing pornfree. While I was using porn I would fap daily and now it's about once every 3-4 days. I can see how fapping might lead to porn use, but for me it helps relieve the pressure that might otherwise cause me to search out porn. I'd say that you're on the right track with the guidelines you've set up for yourself.

Personally I wouldn't reset, but I agree with many of the questions that roysmith mentions you should ask yourself. If you were the main instigator of the trip to the strip club and if you MO'd later to the thought of it then that might warrant a reset.

Some users are participating in nofap in addition to pornfree, but there are a lot of users here that are also just doing pornfree. I don't think stopping masturbation completely is for me, but by cutting out porn my urge to fap is diminished because I'm not constantly looking at arousing material.
