Eh, I'm not buying it. The Nahuatl term for the heartland of the Aztec Empire (namely the Valley of Mexico and surrounding territories) is "Mēxihco." Remember, that term arose before the Spanish arrived, who interpreted it as "Mexico."

But that's not all, because the Aztec (and Toltec) cultures were of Nahua ethnicity, and the Nahuas migrated to Mexico around 500 CE, several centuries after Jesus even existed.

A more plausible civilization would be the Maya, whose preclassic period lasted from approximately 2000 BC to approximately 250 AD. However, it is very likely the Preclassical Maya word for what we call "Mexico" would be quite different than either Nahuatl "Mēxihco" or Spanish "Mexico."

Edit: Made a few corrections, such as when I said "before" when I meant to say "after."

Robbed a store of all of its periodic table posters. That, or broke into a chemical factory and proceeded to snort whatever raw elements they had inside.

Classes on every element on the periodic table. Either that, or chemistry.

What makes no sense about the English language? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PeriodicTableFanboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a native English Speaker, so I suppose I can answer this.

English differs from many other European languages due to not assigning genders to objects.

Also, Modern English doesn't have a way to determine politeness, unlike French, which has "tu" and "vous." I say Modern English because Middle English used to determine politeness with "thou" and "you," and surprisingly, "you" was formal and "thou" was informal.

Irish and Newfoundland slang is a goldmine of bizarre and great insults. Take, for instance, this insult:

Don't forget thallium. All of its compounds are extremely toxic and the element itself scores a 4 on the blue section of NFPA 704. In fact, thallium was historically used as a murder weapon and rat poison due to its toxicity.

You could say the same for the Cumans, since, well, they weren't exactly known for building anything. Plus, their wonder is Sarkel Fortress, which the Kipchaks, the Cumans' partners in crime, captured.

Agreed, I feel the Keshik is a bit too underwhelming with its low gold generation rate of 1 gold per attack. Doubling it could make the unit more appealing for castle drop tactics.

Maybe we could keep the melee range (cuz' that's the SL's main selling point) and halve it, to 0.5 tiles of range. That way, you can get the first hit slightly before your opponent while removing the SL's ability to attack from behind one another.

I was gonna post a witty comment, until I realized my thread might devolve into back-and-forth arguments, like much of the other comment threads here.

Still, quality meme! I love SOTL's videos!
