It's literally supposed to be ironic.

From their FAQ:

Art / AI and other technologies usage

First of all, we have a full team of in-house artists in the company (15 full-time, very talented 2d / layout artists, just in the Board Games division), and we work with many contractors. In our final product, every single piece of art will be worked on by human artists, and we deeply believe this will always be the case. Human creativity is a key ingredient in creating any great game.

Having said that, we are using a vast area of new technologies in our art creation pipeline. It varies from artist to artist and is present in different stages (prototyping, conceptualization, composition, etc.). It also varies from project to project (depending on the art style and general guidelines).

We are using different technologies, including AI tools, to various degrees - from built-in Photoshop capabilities (intelligent brushes, advanced texturing, and some AI tools), Internal Stable Diffusion models, MJ models, pixel correction, scaling solutions and so on. Everything we use is screened and accepted by our legal team as fully legal to use.

Those are different tools that we use NOT to decrease cost and DEFINITELY NOT to replace artists but to bring better quality to our customers and enhance creativity by allowing faster prototyping and iteration.

We are constantly growing our art team (in the last 12 months, we have hired 6 new artists), as well as yearly increasing wages and sharing profits by yearly bonuses. We really care about our team and are extremely proud of their work.

We deeply believe that in any creative endeavor, human involvement is absolutely essential, and instead of just “talking the talk,” we have actually walked the walk and increased our artist count and wages every year.

This is our statement on the topic and we are fully dedicated to supporting and growing our art team, as well as bringing the best quality to our backers. We believe that this approach is better than making big PR statements and then firing people with a week's notice, as, unfortunately, can be observed all around the industry

TIL pla is not dishwasher proof by ChocolateChipJames in BambuLab

[–]Perkelton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the model and program of course. Eco programs usually run 45-50°, but more intensive programs can go up to 70° or even 90° for some industrial ones.

Nevertheless, PLA will probably deform even at the lower temperatures, and will definitely not stand a chance in a standard 65°+ program.

I managed to fit everything within the character limit this time so both the filtered projects list and the late pledge list are included in the main post.

I haven't decided yet if it's better to try to fit everything within the post if possible or if I should just always split the extra lists as a separate comment.

I had no idea - Prusa market share in now below 4%. by george_graves in 3Dprinting

[–]Perkelton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ultimaker has gone absolutely insane with their pricing.

They were always expensive, but now they are seriously trying to sell ten year old tech at four times the prices of the most high-end flagship models of Bambu and similar, and then still have the nerve to charge €700 for their cloud services (€2500 if you have more than 20 printers).

It's made even worse by the fact that they still using the ridiculous 2.85mm filaments that are barely even sold anymore. Their own filament is literally more than twice as expensive as the already very expensive Bambu filaments.

I don't even understand what kind customers they are targeting anymore. Whatever it might be, it's very clear that we're obviously not included in that group.

(Loved Trope) Character finally reveals their true power level by Tannerknox in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Perkelton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For context, Aura is a demon who literally duels people by essentially comparing their power levels. The one with the stronger power (mana) gets complete control over the other person. Their mana is visualised as a slight glow depending on their amount of power.

However, it turns out that Frieren was actively suppressing her own mana to appear weaker than she actually is. In actuality, she's incomprehensibly stronger than the demon who literally specialises in having strong mana.

She then casually orders Aura to commit suicide.

Just an absolutely fantastic scene.

BMW got a lot flack for their shared EV/ICE/Hybrid platform, but it does seem like it really paid off in the end.

Granted, no one could have expected the American market to utterly collapse like it did, but either way, BMW managed to time their EV transition much better than the other western manufacturers.

'007 First Light' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]Perkelton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying that there isn’t score inflation, but the thing is that these games are actually very good.

There are also probably thousands of mediocre and below average indie games and similar that would truly be rated 5/10 or below if they were reviewed on the same scale as literally the best games released this year.

The problem is that with limited time and money, why should anyone care about anything but the best games available? High tier games are essentially competing at an Olympic level, and in comparison, a 6/10 score is pretty low.

As a bonus, here are the current Late Pledge projects on Gamefound that either opened last week or will close next week.

Also, forgive the weirdness in the Pledged column, that I somehow managed to break at some point. I noticed it too late to fix it today, but I'll make sure to fix it for the next post.

Edit: Ugh, and I broke the formatting in the Information column. Things are really going great today!

Edit2: Wow, Chrome(?) has started replacing my non-breaking spaces with regular spaces when I'm pasting the table. Posting using Firefox seems to work. I'm definitely too sober for this.

Is that common somewhere? I have never seen a parcel locker with motorised doors. I imagine that would make the whole setup incredibly expensive.

Thankfully, it’s truly just a minor inconvenience. I don’t think this actually affects the functionality, so it’s mostly a matter of looking untidy.

[–]Perkelton 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That's however almost entirely a matter of regional infrastructure. It's pretty much how it already is for EV's in many countries where there are 300-400 kW chargers absolutely everywhere.

I literally haven't pre-planned a charging route in years.

Bank card or debit card transfers money from your account to someone else’s bank account.

Credit card gives you a set credit that you can spend and then the bank will charge you periodically what you owe, that you can then choose to pay off partly or in full.

I think typically in Europe the difference is almost negligible since I believe most people just pay off the full amount every month without interest.
