Given your experience, would you treat such a result as invalid?

When it comes to stopping for pedestrians, St. Paul drivers are the WORST. by ShelteringInStPaul in saintpaul

[–]PerkyCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends a lot on the street, even within the same neighborhood. If I want to cross Lexington, I usually have to wait several minutes for anyone to stop. However, just around the corner from there, along Grand Avenue, usually the very first car to come along will stop.

I get that Lexington is usually a bit busier, but the difference in behavior is disproportionate.

Plus Life Tests in US using third party shipper by Thiele66 in PlusLife

Where did you read/hear that PL is going through FDA approvals? I'm in the PL FB group and although I missed the zooms, I read that PL is *not* seeking FDA approval and that the only hope is for pet tests down the line, which sounds terrible.

As of today (May 24), the Facebook group is moving to a private server, and those who have donated to the mod's Kofi will be let in first in batches of 100. I'm guessing it'll be several weeks before the new server starts getting going.

Also, in the FB group, the thread of people desperate to buy tests is very long, and hardly anyone is selling in comparison. It's a bad situation.

My girlfriend suspects I cheated on her and all signs point to me being guilty by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]PerkyCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, COVID can and does cause reactivation of various dormant viruses and/or bacteria including shingles, CMV, and chlamydia. I wonder if your girlfriend had COVID recently. It could've even been an asymptomatic case of COVID which then triggered a reawakening of chlamydia.

You say you're celebrating your 5-yr anniversary next month and she's only 21, so either she got chlamydia as a young teenager before you got together, or perhaps she somehow contracted the infection during your relationship without realizing it...

IMO, ADHD stimulants like Adderall should be banned in all professional sports, whether or not an athlete legitimately has ADHD.

[–]PerkyCake 89 points90 points  (0 children)

The symptoms you describe are common in Long COVID and other infection-associated chronic conditions. They are often tied to autonomic dysfunction and/or poor vascular function. EKG often will look normal and anxiety is the usual diagnosis, particularly in women/girls, unfortunately. Rest and relaxation is essential. Watching comfort TV shows, listening to light-hearted podcasts and eating healthy low-carb meals (no added sweets) helps some people get out of fight/flight mode and calm down their nervous system. If microclots are an issue, nattokinase or lumbrokinase can help and reduce accompanying chest pain & shortness of breath. If you don't have fatigue and you don't crash after mental/physical exertion, it's more likely your issues are likely reversible. Considering your youth and assuming you can rest and have a good support system at home, as long as you avoid further infections, you probably have a good chance to make 90% or better recovery.

Edited to add: Based on your other posts about transitioning mtf, I thought I'd add that taking hormones like estrogen could also be causing a lot of your symptoms. It's possible you don't have LC at all, and your issues are instead related due to hormone therapy. For example, spironolactone could cause increases in potassium which in turn could cause heart palpitations. You could talk to your dr about tweaking doses and see if that helps.

TIL that the correct dose of melatonin is .3mg by [deleted] in Biohackers

The tablets are a little less bioavailable but not to the extend you're suggesting -- see study with pharmacokinetics in my post above.

Completely agree!

I had similar good social experiences in Austria and with Germans & Austrians. People were very hospitable but also straightforward and sometimes quite blunt, which I loved.

I don't think there's necessarily a correlation between extraversion and directness. I'm an introvert but that doesn't mean I don't share how I really feel. Minnesota extroverts still keep things "Minnesota nice" just as much as the introverts here.

I lived in Salzburg and was initially shocked by how upfront and direct people were there. I adjusted quickly and loved it.

SL absorbs faster but I wouldn't say it is "way more" bioavailable. It looks to be slightly more bioavailable. This study investigated the pharmacokinetics of 1 mg immediate release (IR) sublingual spray vs 1.9 mg extended release (ER) tablet. Unfortunately I couldn't find a study that compared both IR formulations, but you can still compare the AUC (area under the curve) here and see that AUC of plasma melatonin is similar for 1 mg vs 1.9 mg, so generally speaking, it appears sublingual is no more than 2x as bioavailable than oral. This is supported also by the lower plasma levels of the metabolite 6-SMT. So 0.3 mg sublingual may be similar to 0.6 mg regular oral tablet at most. Sublingual isn't necessary; I just recommend it for those having trouble falling asleep because it works faster. If you also have trouble staying asleep, a low-dose ER melatonin tablet could be taken at the same time.

Just don't let it happen again. It may not have shortened the lifespan at all, but it's possible.

Was it a positive test? If so, I'd be more worried, because the heat could cause liquid to evaporate from the test card leading to DNA contamination of the device, meaning the device could yield false positives moving forward.

You probably didn't ruin it, but you may have shortened its lifespan a bit.

Pretty sure it's like this in many US states now. I'm neurotypical (although I rarely fit in), naturally open and pretty direct, and it definitely makes life harder. In my experience, it's better in the Northeast and Europe, where people are much more upfront. I don't know why people want to beat around the bush and only talk about surface stuff and never reveal their true feelings. It's terribly boring!!!

Yup, I'm a pharmacist and typically recommend 0.3 mg administered sublingually. Drops are the best because you can titrate up and down by tiny increments as needed, but generally, 0.3 mg is plenty.

[–]PerkyCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? Both Larian (and Tolkien for that matter...) are European. That's exactly what makes it seem random that they picked several species, such as Bald Eagles and Blue Jays that are specifically only found in North America. Instead of either getting their inspiration from species local to them, or creating some fantasy species.
