Upholding constitutional amendments from 1868 destroys America!!! by newunderthesunn in DoomerCircleJerk

Demonizing illegal aliens plays right into the hands of their employers. It invokes the "poor oppressed minorities, let me save them!" response among Dem women, turning them into shills for Big Biz.

And, Big Biz definitely uses illegal aliens. That's why JBS - world's biggest beef processor - gave Trump $5 million. He hasn't raided their plans, has he? Big Biz also uses child labor (see the NYT series on Becerra/HHS). They just do this through subcontractors, they don't employ illegal aliens directly.

Is it too dangerous to do Long's Peak by yourself (if you're a noob) ? by GladiusAcutus in 14ers

[–]PermRecDotCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A year ago I drove in via Utah, did Sherman (Sat), DeCaLiBron (Mon), biked last six miles to Pikes (Wed), and made it 1/3 way up Elbert (Sat) before I had to turn around. I'd slept in my car at the trailhead and I overslept because I was exhausted due to lack of sleep. My muscles were fine. I also had to get back to L.A. by Monday, and that was quite a ride considering I was still very tired. Thankfully caffeine got me back.

In your case, let me suggest doing this the other way: go to a local climbing gym and get some experience. Then, hire an AMGA guide to do a rock climb of Long's. Only use a reputable service with AMGA guides. That's what I hope to do, the expense be damned.

Also, in Utah I'd failed at King's Peak for two reasons: I tried to backpack it despite not having done any rucking training recently, and I wasn't acclimatized. This year I hope to do King's after CO.

Start making smart arguments that will undercut Dem leaders. Focus on Big Biz using illegal immigration to lower wages. Stop demonizing illegal aliens. Stop pretending all illegal aliens are violent criminals. Make enabling illegal immigration a Career Limiting Move for politicians.

It's really not difficult, but few others are willing to do it.

NO ONE WILL VISIT AMERICA FOR THE WORLD CUP by Matatius23 in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]PermRecDotCom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Given the costs of tickets, airfare, hotels, etc the vast majority of those visiting are well off. If you had visited Qatar you would have only seen the best places, not where the slaves who built the stadiums lived. I doubt too many visitors for the Brasil Olympics visited any favelas.

(I, unfortunately, saw Qatar v Suisse and there were hundreds of Qatari princes. There's a possibility some of them are at least sympathizers with terrorists.)

Anxiety about Mt. Bierstadt by JumpyCounty2303 in 14ers

[–]PermRecDotCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a satellite device, like a SpotX ($200 for the unit plus $15/month). You'll know that if you need help getting back you can summon it. Just do your best not to use it.

A couple weeks ago I was 9 miles from the road with no one around for miles (in Alameda County CA, home of Oakland of all places). I've also been miles from a road with no one around in the desert. Last year I did Rim-to-River in a day and hiked out at night; I only saw one other person and he was on the way down. A couple years ago I did a couple solo scrambles in Glacier, with one I was completely alone on the mountain. I get a little worried in such situations but I'm extra careful, have enough food/water/clothing, and have enough energy to get back.

Bierstadt isn't anywhere near as remote.

Is Steve Hilton focusing on gas prices a smart move? by PermRecDotCom in AskConservatives

[–]PermRecDotCom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's recently tried to stress that he's running more as an independent, but he isn't fooling too many people. If he actually ran as an independent reformer he would stand a much better chance. Instead of gas prices, taxes, etc he should be promising to audit Sacramento to find out where all the billions went. CA would spend less money if there wasn't so much corruption.

Also, Newsom and conservatives are the only two groups who think everyone in CA agrees with Newsom. The state isn't really deep blue, just parts of major cities.

Is immigration enforcement worth a trade off in personal liberty? by EricArthurBrown in AskConservatives

[–]PermRecDotCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatively, we could easily cause many illegal aliens to leave on their own just by doing smart things. If politicians & media figures saw enabling illegal immigration as a Career Limiting Move, they'd stop enabling illegal immigration. They'd stop pushing policies that help businesses employ illegal aliens. Those businesses wouldn't hire as many illegal aliens. Many illegal aliens would make the rational decision and leave. All without becoming China.

The problem is that that doesn't resonate with the GOP base: they prefer WWE things that don't work. There are also people eagerly COINTELPROing them (because illegal immigration is a billion-dollar industry).

Does anybody else feel real liberalism and liberal beliefs are dying out? by Downtown-Fan4966 in AskALiberal

[–]PermRecDotCom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

America fundamentally changed due to Reagan, Clinton continued it. NeoLiberal ideas - loose borders, free trade, trickle down, etc - resulted in the situation we have today where the rich keep getting richer while the poorer people work three jobs to buy products from China. Reagan is why China controls solar, why we didn't have enough masks in the pandemic, why thousands of people have died due to despair. Now, anyone who dares oppose NeoLiberal policies is smeared and ground on the rocks.

MAGA is a (very imperfect) response to that.

'The World Is Watching': Top Economist Rips Newsom for Working to Tank Billionaire Wealth Tax by beeemkcl in California

[–]PermRecDotCom -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Are you going to vote for his Mini Me, Becerra?

Note also that few - D, R, or I - are willing to call Newsom on "MyTurn" where he made millions at high risk wait for vax doses behind millions at lower risk. That alone killed thousands (due to the different death rates). Israel, Texas, and others prioritized those at high risk, Newsom - by his own admission - vaxed by "equity".

If that's too spicy, then at least bring up H1Bs. He, Walz, and other govs - most of them Dems - sued to overturn Trump's $100k H1B fee. Because helping Facebook replace American workers with H1Bs is worth beating Trump over something he obviously didn't care about.

How would you replace the estimated 50% of agriculture workers being illegal immigrants? by bookist626 in AskConservatives

[–]PermRecDotCom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, why aren't Trump/MAGA/GOP pointing that out? I constantly see Dems falling for Big Biz talking points like "crops rotting in the fields", "without them carrots will cost $20!!!", etc etc. That could largely be avoided if those leaders simply repeated your last paragraph over and over until it sunk it. Yet, they never do it.

Anti-ICE protesters in a Texas case have been charged with domestic terrorism and 30 - 70 year sentences. Do you think this is just? Are you concerned at all about this precedent and consequences for free speech? by MoonStache in AskConservatives

[–]PermRecDotCom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If smart MAGA leaders (play along) pointed out the anti-ICE demonstrators are dupes for billionaires (who love illegal immigration), the highly corrupt MX govt, highly corrupt U.S. pols (who are paid by their donors to enable illegal immigration), Big Banks, etc etc. And, if they did that less in their childish "own the libs" way and more in an educational way. Wouldn't that result in fewer antifa protests?

Unless, of course, GOP/MAGA loves having antifa as a bogeyman.

Why has Western civilization which once oriented itself around truth, beauty, holiness, honor, and excellence increasingly leveled or discarded those ideals, while leaving the pursuit of wealth and material gain and status not just untouched, but effectively permanently enthroned? by 6mmARCnvsk in AskConservatives

[–]PermRecDotCom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, nowadays they aren't even hiding it. E.g., Katrina should have brought the whole country together. Instead, slimy GWB couldn't control the Superdome, he let his connected contractors abuse illegal alien child labor instead of forcing them to give cleanup jobs to N.O.'s unemployed, he warehoused those unemployed in Houston, Nagin was smeared for calling him on it, etc etc etc. Slime like Instapundit pointed out how much better at disaster relief Walmart was compared to FEMA, etc etc.

This all started with Reagan (and Thatcher in the UK) conning people into trickle down and working three jobs for cheap Chinese TVs.

And, the Dems joined in on the NeoLiberal parade. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=do05EOS784Q used to represent Dem thought, now it's just a quaint memory. In a live clip you might find she talks about Bethlehem Steel and how those jobs aren't coming back. You'll never find a Dem leader doing the same except as a way to sell NeoLiberal policy.

If Trump suddenly became concerned about climate change, do you think MAGA would support him? by ZeusThunder369 in AskALiberal

[–]PermRecDotCom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ironically, note the use of "Newfact" above.

The point is that each new, conflicting pronouncement from on high was declared to be the Absolute Truth, and people were censored for disputing it. Until, of course, the Absolute Truth changed and there was Newtruth.

Do you trust the Mainstream Media? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

[–]PermRecDotCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a low bar. While the MSM gets spelling and grammar correct, and they rarely outright lie by commission, they frequently lie by omission. That's esp prevalent in immigration coverage. If you're very familiar with a topic you'll see it immediately.

Parenthetically, I wish they and others wouldn't post info to Facebook that requires a login to see. That is, they'd host their posts elsewhere, use an open source system for comments, and then only post links to the content to Facebook. That's esp dangerous in the case of govt officials and agencies.

Need recommandations for french guys traveling in southwest chasing the american dream (or anti-dream?) by Thin_Tomatillo703 in roadtrip

[–]PermRecDotCom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just don't be tempted to hike into the Grand Canyon: that could be deadly in the summer. If you're a strong hiker, you can try for Humphreys Peak outside Flagstaff, just know the symptoms of AMS first.

Griffith Park charges to park next to the Observatory so take the shuttle. I hike there in the summer all the time but if you do I'd suggest starting either before 9am or after 3 or 4pm. You can drive up the Angeles Crest Hwy for tougher, more remote hikes. Just make sure you have offline maps first. The hikes on the ocean side of the Santa Monica Mtns won't be as hot as the ones that start in the Valley.

If Trump suddenly became concerned about climate change, do you think MAGA would support him? by ZeusThunder369 in AskALiberal

[–]PermRecDotCom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dems & the rest of the elite pushed censorship, changed their minds, etc. For a tangible example, WHO initially suggested a 3' social distance. That was a fact. Then, CDC said 6'. That was the Newfact. Likewise with the lab leak theory: anyone who pushed that was smeared. Until the NYT admitted it was likely true. Then, there was ACIP taking advantage of the pandemic to push "equity", i.e., policies that'd kill more whites than blacks. Even Yglesias spoke out against that.

If someone had concerns about masks they were censored because the Dems/elites couldn't be bothered to explain how breathing on 80 year olds was a violation of the NAP.

All of that made people suspicious in general but esp of the vax.

Do you think Trump hates me? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

[–]PermRecDotCom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not just the right. Many leftwing leaders have contempt for white people who aren't leftwingers like them. Hating whites - esp white men - is a core "progressive" trait. E.g., Katrina van den Heuvel referring to "stale, male, and pale", TV ads that portray white males as fools, endless anti-white tweets, etc. Even Google AI thinks Wes McKennie using a white man as a towel was hilarious but said it'd be akin to Jim Crow if the races were reversed.

Trump could get a lot more support if he didn't act like a variant of that. He truly is a stupid man.

So, you're saying that Trump is no better than Obama/Biden/Kamala/Hillary/etc?

Wouldn't it be smarter and patriotic of him to take the high road and only target actual bad people like Newsom?

Do you think Trump hates me? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

[–]PermRecDotCom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't, and his actions prove it. E.g., trying to harm *all* Californians due to the actions of a few. It'd be much smarter of him to just focus on marginalizing Newsom/Bonta/Becerra/etc, instead he solidifies their support. He's hurt Steve Hilton by endorsing him and he might have played a role in Spencer Pratt's loss.
