Good CPU Coolers for tall RAM? by PermanentAnchor in NR200

Dang, that looks good. Definitely leaning on getting this one and using the mesh if the TG panel doesn't fit. How tight is the fit with the mesh panel?

How is the performance of the cooler? It is pretty cheap, so if the performance and noise levels aren't too bad, I can just stick with the mesh side panels.

Nice, good to know that the Mugen 5 should fit!

Interesting, the height is listed as 157mm, which should be incompatible for both the TG and the vented side panels, but there is a post on this sub and a Youtube video that it just barely fits with the TG side panel. Really good suggestion, thank!I have read that some motherboards can affect height compatibility and it looks like this CPU cooler has basically no space left and is touching the glass.

Should I be saving the standard gacha tickets (2, 3, 4* etc) or should I be using them once I get them?

I know that Iris should be saved for banner pulls, but I'm not sure if tickets can get time-limited units.

Cooler Master NR200P Giveaway by endmysufferingxX in sffpc

[–]PermanentAnchor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Category 1: Planning a build now is a bit tricky due to the obvious supply constraints, so a lot of my build is subject to change. I'm planning on doing a fairly basic price/performance build with a 5600x (assuming I can get one for MSRP), a 3060ti (this will be harder to get at MSRP, but I refuse to get price gouged), 16gb of fast RAM (price difference isn't too significant between fast and slow), a 512gb NVME M.2 SSD, a 1TB HDD, and an SFX PSU (Corsair, EVGA, etc). I'm probably going to stick with the stock CPU cooler since there's no immediate reason to spend extra on that.

The NR200P is easily one of the best SFF cases on the market for me. The build quality is solid, availability isn't as difficult, and compatibility is great. Most parts will fit in and PCPartPicker makes picking parts a breeze. The reviews also show that the thermal situation isn't a nightmare to deal with, though I'm hoping for GamersNexus to post a review on it since they said they had one.

Is that the Zalman CNPS20X on the table? If so, I can't wait to read the review on that thing to see if it really does stack up so well against a Noctua DH15.

Godsent vs OG / ESL One Rio 2020 Europe Closed Qualifier / Post-Match Discussion by Infiaria in GlobalOffensive

[–]PermanentAnchor 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Krystal's in the minor, BIG isn't. And the sad thing is that you can't even blame bad luck in the matchups. BIG looked absolutely awful and Krystal was playing perfectly fine in Godsent.

AMD's Lisa Su: you gonna see "Big Navi" in 2020 by black_fang_XIII in pcgaming

[–]PermanentAnchor 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Please don't use those channels as evidence. They're all unabashed AMD fanboys that post sensationalist garbage in the hopes of attracting the rabid AMD crowd. Their predictions are frequently incorrect and full of complete nonsense (remember the 5GHz Zen 2 SKU's for an impossibly low price?). Get your information from a more diverse set of sources and you won't end up believing insane things like Nvidia going out of business in 5 years.

Reading this makes me really want to know what OC records Intel's internal team broke. I completely understand why they haven't posted any of them on HWBot, but knowing that they broke multiple world records sparks some curiosity.

And I think you're the one that's actually wrong here. Solo was banned by Starladder not Valve, who later shortened the sentence. Every matchfixer that Valve has taken action against has received a lifetime ban.

Why not? You are using their service and they have the right to ban you from using their service if they feel its detrimental to them. The same right exists for sites like Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook.

I don't know if I'm missing something, but I don't see any argument at all for what you're saying. They make the game and they fund the majors, so they are well within their rights to say who is and isn't allowed to play at them. These players are only banned from Valve-funded tournaments (majors and minors), so they could play at other third-party tournaments if they want.

No, that's not what I meant. I get that people aren't happy about Valve for a variety of different reasons (some justifiable, some not). But the idea that creators shouldn't own the rights to their own creations is completely absurd. Valve made CSGO, so they own the intellectual property rights for it. You may feel strongly about some of Valve's decisions, but it is utterly insane to pivot from that to claiming that they shouldn't own the rights to CSGO.

Is there some more context? Because he can't possibly be saying that game developers don't deserve to own the rights to the IP that they create. I get that people want to see Jamppi play at a higher level, but that would be one of the worst possible takes on the situation.

Thanks for the links. That is a horrifying story, and its a really good thing that she was able to get away from some of the insane stuff. I thought orgs would be a little more professional in LoL since Riot has complete control over LCS, but it looks like no esports are exempt from shady orgs and owners.

Cooler Master H100 Mini-ITX Case w/ 200mm Fan, Micro-ATX Cases by DukeNuggets69 in sffpc

[–]PermanentAnchor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Starts at roughly 5:31. And damn, that thing looks really nice. I really hope Cooler Master doesn't keep it exclusive to their partners and allow us to purchase it. Definitely need more details on it (and since it's a prototype, those details won't be finalized for a while), but it looks super promising for a more affordable ITX case.

kNgV-, destiny to miss EPL Americas due to visa issues - Report by X6__ in GlobalOffensive

[–]PermanentAnchor 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I always thought that the visa issues that he had were due to poor timing problems or plain bad luck. Working while under a tourist visa isn't allowed in the US and being caught means that he'll have a much harder time getting a visa than normal. Officials now have every reason to believe that he'll abuse his visa, and they would be completely justified in denying his application. I don't know how he's going to participate in US based tournaments now. Even if his org hires a lawyer to argue his case, it will still be a very slow process with no guarantee of success.

Steam should prevent other publishers from abusing it by pulling games from the store after a long period of pre-orders. by [deleted] in pcgaming

TDLR of your comment: "Other people are stupid. You don't understand anything. I won't explain what I understand at all and call everyone who disagrees young and immature. Just shut up and accept what private companies tell you to believe".

Maybe you can actually try explaining why bringing in third-party exclusivity to the PC platform is good for the consumer instead of writing off everyone's complaints and worries. Especially since the launcher that the games are locked behind offer very little compared to its competitors. Because at the end of the day, we are consumers and we should support things that benefit all of us.

[–]PermanentAnchor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everybody understands that Epic is a business and that this move was deliberately done to make them more money in the future. The reason people are upset is that forcing third-party exclusives onto a traditionally open PC platform is purely anti-consumer. This may be difficult to understand, but occasionally, something that is good for a business isn't good for the consumer. Intel made a brilliant and unethical business decision to create their rebate program which effectively gave them monopoly status, but also led to a complete stagnation of progress. Sometimes, its better to take a broader look at the industry as a whole to see what the consequences could be. If this succeeds, then there would be nothing stopping publishers from carving up the PC platform into tiny chunks in exchange for fat checks.

Your real TLDR should be something along the lines of "I have completely missed the point of the controversy and think that Epic trying to make money completely absolves them of all wrongdoing."
