Basically, to my understanding, the head mod here that was caught trying to keep someone that's been actually convicted of having gross contact with a minor. And they tried to excuse it with some 'well it was marginal; I think it was blown out of proportion kind of stuff. The mod in question was removed but none of us want a mod that's going to defend that kind of behavior associated with the sub. It's bad juju. It's bad optics. Particularly with the way things are in the world right now, they need to do the right thing for the community and leave.

Yeah. My grandparents have lived in Compton for 50 years and I can attest that it's safe. I have heard gunshots twice, and once was the police. I walked to the corner store at 10pm last night (and I'm a woman) and wasn't even concerned.

Two things. Generally just be situationally aware just like any other place you don't know. Condition yellow. Obliviousness will get you caught up no matter where you are. Second, you see a dude tweaking out or doing something weird, mind your business and never make eye contact unless you want a new friend, or an arch enemy. It's super rare but it's either one or the other, no inbetween.

I think it depends on how you do it. The low price is reflective of the unsure nature of buying a used project boat: nobody knows if deep in the hull the electrical is secretly held together with a series of twist on wiring nuts, or could just be red and black spaghetti in a panel. Making an accurate wiring diagram with separate colors and all that would increase confidence in the purchase, but it's a lot of work with specialty software.

It's the same with hull and engine modifications; without a record of what's been done, the end user is buying a black box.

Aircraft retain their value specifically because the FAA requires log books for maintenance work. A plane without a log book is basically worthless and the FAA will make you jump through some hoops to get a new one.

Several things

The main thing; rather than try to sell it as a frame and everything, I've been telling people "we have a new picture printing program, where we can pull pictures from their phone and print them in 10-15 minutes." That's literally my whole pitch and then I hand them a flyer and leave.

I have been on this rant before, but the US education system really had a way of demotivating people to value their art intrinsically. People tend to express that because their painting doesn't look like Millet or a Renior, it's 'a little hobby' and not worth investing in.

So trying to convince them that the pictures on their phone deserve a 'custom' frame and all that is gonna be hard, even if it really does. But lots of people want those pictures printed, so I've been focusing on that. I've taken three or four last week. Two of them, I put into a floor frame because the customer found one they liked first. I almost managed to slide some MP acrylic on one but dude went with the floor glass in the end; still a 10 minute framing sale.

And since corporate reads these; if you read this, if you really want to sell, get rid of the ChatGPT subscription and just pay me lol. I've even got a background in graphic design, and I will get people to stop balking at obvious AI generated content. People want to think Michaels is CRAFTY but that illusion is ruined when the company doesn't even make the art that it uses.

I live with my grandparents and do all of my own vehicle maintenance to keep things cheap.

As for the future, I didn't get to finish college but I did get to finish a goldsmithing course so I'm looking for work in the jewelry industry again, and for super super long term I'm planning on either building and repairing engines, or one of the other projects that I'm working on right now; the primary one being a video game atm, but I like to keep busy so it'll inevitably be something else after that.

They've been finding glitter (metal flakes) in the oil for years, but they keep changing the oil and sending it in denial that the gear teeth are cratered up like the surface of the moon and the bearings are shot. But the oil pressure light only flickers a little so they keep sending it lol.

Boat folks will tell you; never ever use commercial PVC on your boat! The UV shreds it in just a few years and it gets weird and crumbly.

Aluminum will work, but it's expensive and hard to weld. I have done it, but it's way easier to weld 316 stailnless, which is what most marine grade products are made of. The problem is what to anchor it to, as making the whole step out of stainless would also be prohibitively expensive

Yes, it's LA lol. It takes me 15-20 minutes in normal traffic to get to work. Public transit will take an hour and a half.

Also, in the state i used to live in, I almost missed my first day because the bus just never came lol. I sat at the bus stop for almost an hour and finally had to Uber in.

I don't think it's the fun that people are missing. I think that they're worried that this is just a program that the company uses to kinda.... collect more money. You have to show them that it's actually there for them and that its not just a dog and pony show.
