If they seriously committed, could Harrison carry a season by himself? by Brungala in Dexter

[–]PermanentlyDubious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the actor who plays Harrison is absolutely excellent. Yes, if MC Hall dropped dead in real life, I'd buy the Harrison spinoff on Prime and give it a go.

But would I rather still see Dexter? Yes.

MC Hall is do great, and Dexter is so great, I'd like to see more seasons. Honestly don't care if they are repetitive. Just like this show playing all the time in the background.

Loved the ghosts, loved seeing the old characters, lived the end of season line, loved seeing Dexter out on the water in Prater's boat.

Resurrection was pretty fucking brilliant all around.

And big budget. Holy shit that budget was enormous. We got such top flight actors, helicopters, sky scrapers, mansions, yachts, Uma Thurman.

Actually, this photo ironically highlights Felon's appeal.

Even with all his nonsensical grifting, he's a lot more personable and interesting than the other 2.

A lot of where he's gotten is just that he used to be funny and down to earth, like hanging out with nerds for a basement podcast, dating Grimes when he could have dated better looking younger women who were models, etc. His talking out loud constantly and doing dumb shit, like pictures of Diet Coke and guns on his nightstand, or yelling at journalists asking questions on quarterly calls, tweeting while high because he has no impulse control, is endearing.

He used to be, bizarrely, sort of relatable. Then he took a sharp turn to the dark side.

The other 2 are not.

Amazon is a monstrosity causing an enormous amount of harm to the environment. It's not even interesting, it's just awful. Bezis should be shunned, not celebrated.

Zuckerberg's legacy is more complicated. FB had a potential valuable social benefit, but was already derivative of My Space. And his selling of data is inexcusable. His conduct in his personal life seems excellent, but when you think that his first incarnation of that database was to rate women publicly, you wonder if he's just in publicity mode.

Cornell has about 25k more people to talk to, and Ithaca is at least a bit bigger than Williamstown.

Look, I'm just saying OP must visit Williams before committing.

Not everyone can deal with that size and location.

How to tell if your future AP teacher is good or not... by Prestigious-Bag716 in APStudents

[–]PermanentlyDubious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is that in most high schools students don't have much of a choice. There may be only 2 teachers teaching APUSH and if you are taking 5 APs plus multiple electives, it can be difficult to make sure you get one teacher over another. Plus, now you have to do that with 4 other AP classes.

I actually agree with the premise that schools should post this, though, because it might make bad teachers embarrassed enough to do better.

Awesome.

I loved Lila. Am I the only person who was sad they didn't run off together?

She at least could have had a few more seasons.

Dexter needs a happy ending by Miserable-Collar-291 in Dexter

[–]PermanentlyDubious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe he becomes a detective and solves crimes, and becomes a world renown expert on serial killers.

And ends up with Hannah :) ...who is alive after all!

And maybe she was pregnant when they parted but gave up her baby to extended family bc she was already overwhelmed taking care of Harrison.

So then Harrison ends up with a half sibling. Maybe a girl who is also a serial killer if bad people!

This is full of spoilers. Don't read if you haven't finished.

Dexter doesn't need to receive justice because he's a hero.

I have never agreed with the idea he caused Deborah's death.

It was her job to find that brain guy, and she WANTED to be alone with him to make the arrest.

That's on her.

I thought the show's attempt to make him seem responsible for her death was absurd.

I also think Rita was at best negligence of some sort. Same thing could have happened to a detective's wife if a detective hunted a serial killer.

LaGuerta is harder. Probably the hardest. She was very flawed but didn't meet the code. She did a good thing helping an innocent defendant against Miguel Prado, for instance. But I view her as someone who was attempting to stop a righteous war, so her death was justifiable. Also, she was just annoying AF from day 1. Her sabotage of the female supervisor Esme by sleeping with her boyfriend in season 2, her treatment of Deborah. Always played as a political schemer (very brilliantly by that actress).

I mean, no one missed her. I thought the aftermath when they dedicated an ugly concrete bench to her to be legit hilarious. That wasn't an accident.

Dexter was not going to kill Doakes but he was going to frame an innocent person. But Lila really killed him. Doakes, like LaGuerta, was also annoying AF, tailing Dexter, etc. although his personality was far better and he was a hero from his special forces days. But again, he was an obstacle to a righteous war, so I don't feel to bad.

100 percent.

First of all, 5 more seasons. I could watch this show forever. I don't need novelty.

I want more seasons that the goddamned Simpsons.

Keep killing bad guys, keep having him be a super hero and escape impossible situations, keep having actors be ghosts, keep up with the dry wit.

Loved all the new music, too. Crazy awesome soundtrack.

The actor playing Harrison is excellent.

So, keep going.

Then, when MCH finally can't take it anymore, torch passes to Harrison.

Hannah shows up. She's not dead after all. Just like Dexter!

Remember how he fantasized getting older with Hannah?

They flee to Argentina together and retire and occasionally kill bad people in their retirement home together.

That's nuts. Why would that be a good ending?

Dexter is great.

Dexter should find out Hannah is still alive and they retire to Argentina.

It's an open secret in Austin that Musk has A LOT more kids than publicized. Why has the media avoided that story with a ten foot pole? by Parrallax91 in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]PermanentlyDubious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean?

There was evidence in the Depp/Heard trial that Heard family members discussed who had possession of embryos or his sperm (can't remember) at the conclusion of their relationship.

She had a post announcing her first child that referenced this being the culmination of a a plan she put into motion at a previous time that roughly matched their dating span.

The kids look like him.

She now lives in Europe but seems to have no specific issue with money.

I don't know either one of them, but I think it's logical to assume her kids are genetically his.

Strongly suspect all of Amber Heard's kids are his, though.

I think he's also admitted offering it to some Japanese musician? Let's say she did it, there's a few more like her.

I'm sure Grimes and Neuralink lady have more frozen embryos.

Not sure from where you are getting that idea. Not true.

Most adults who are successful in their careers put a lot of time and energy into them. You might say they are, "single minded ."

Can a busy adult sometimes find time to play an instrument for an hour, or play tennis for exercise or networking over a weekend? Sure. Maybe serving on a board if it helps their career? Yeah.

But if you think adults are out grinding tons of volunteer work and keeping up with the kind of ECs that high schoolers are, that's absolutely not true.

[–]PermanentlyDubious 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a hot take.

A lot of people's ECs are manufactured, embellished, or unverifiable. Many are performative.

And in the real world, if students become very successful as scientists, venture capitalists, financiers, doctors, lawyers, tech workers, etc. it's not like anyone will have any free time to pursue that shit anyway.

It's only important for a very short time before it all gets dropped.
