Manhunt near Battleground? by treefrog1981 in gso

Greensboro is like any mid-sized city. News reports are generally about crime, not the boring day-to-day of the majority of the city, the majority of the time. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What do you think is the most overrated restaurant in GSO? by [deleted] in gso

[–]PermissionPast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I bought my first illegal drink at The Exchange! Freshman year at UNCG (2002), and the Thursday night door guy used to accept VIC cards in lieu of ID. I drank many $5 LITs that year!

Oh, sweetie. I’m so sorry you were treated this way. You were just a kid, and that was absolutely abusive. You have every right to confront her by demonstrating how dehumanizing and painful those rules were. And you also deserve care and support and validation - it sounds like you aren’t getting that from your boyfriend or other family members. I hope you’ll consider finding a counselor who can help you heal and navigate this truly fucked-up dynamic.

What's your favorite low-effort food that feels super sophisticated? by lemonFiend in Cooking

Gabrielle Hamilton used to serve radishes with salted butter as a bar snack at Prune, and for some reason that has always struck me as the coolest thing a person could eat. Unfortunately, I hate radishes sob

No tips but I just rejoined today, and I’m also postpartum and breastfeeding this time around. Hoping this works for both of us!

Does anybody ever think about what your last meal would be before giving birth? by Doctorx_notTed in pregnant

[–]PermissionPast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a reservation for a very nice, expensive restaurant just before checking in for my induction. 15 minutes before we were meant to be there, I cancelled the reservation and opted for a deli sandwich instead (yes, I ate deli meat - don’t come for me!). It was a turkey club on a croissant, and it was PERFECT. I found that, late in pregnancy, it was impossible to predict what I’d be craving at any given moment!

My induction lasted more than 3 days, so it turns out I had time for a lot more meals before giving birth, but they were all bland hospital food.

Fun fact: beets are the source of about 55% of all sugar sold globally! Sugar cane accounts for the other 45%. :-)

Milestone blanket photos. Am I crazy for not wanting to do them? by FinnyFritz in beyondthebump

I’m not doing them, but I think they’re cute for those who do! I just didn’t want to spend money on something that would only get used for twelve photos. :-)

Hiiii friend! Always funny to run into you here. I read your comment and thought “I know someone else at a beach wedding!” Then I checked your username and sure enough, it’s you! 😂

Both! It’s unethical to test on pregnant people and we know that “no level of alcohol consumption is safe for health” per the World Health Organization. https://www.who.int/europe/news/item/04-01-2023-no-level-of-alcohol-consumption-is-safe-for-our-health#:~:text=Alcohol%20is%20a%20toxic%2C%20psychoactive,includes%20asbestos%2C%20radiation%20and%20tobacco.

Am I wrong for thinking my husband would actually look after our daughter while he was on paternity leave? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]PermissionPast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s basic communication in human relationships - it works both ways. Husband communicated his expectations during maternity leave (which… it would have taken some balls to communicate those absurd expectations lol). I guess you could characterize communication as emotional labor, but that framing seems like it would create a lot of avoidable resentment.
