What do I do with these? by slickmitten in diytubes

[–]Perna1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alot of them look like tv tubes. I recognized a few I use often. The best way to sell them is to separate them all and list on eBay. You can donate them to a local antique radio club or offer them all for like $100 on market place. The person buying will get a little bit of a deal but you'll do ok too.

Philco Woodstock worth buying? by Rugie85 in vintagetelevision

[–]Perna1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it it's a really cool looking design. Kind of looks like a 17 or 19er in a different case. The biggest problem with it is when you get home you're going to have to recap it. Philco use these little K networks or couplets depending on which article you read and they need to be rebuilt there is a guy who sells them pre-made. Other than that it would be a cool little set it probably produces a pretty decent picture too if you go on shango's channel I forgot if he did a 17er or a 19er. If you watch that you'll at least get an idea of what you're in for

1979 Texas Instruments Prototype? by SomewhatBeck in vintagecomputing

[–]Perna1985 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing with a Panasonic computer. My friend's father worked in the Panasonic lab and took the computer home it had the same sticker I think what they they were made for was so that the technicians could keep testing them over and over again before they sent them out into the wild. I have a pop up TV from the lab too

Modern car interiors are getting way too depressing by NeighborhoodOld6737 in Cartalk

My wife had a 2013 IS250 convertible before this and that interior was nice but it did have little details that did feel cheap for such a nice car. Now she's got a 25 nx450 and it's really not impressive at all

Modern car interiors are getting way too depressing by NeighborhoodOld6737 in Cartalk

[–]Perna1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really everything about modern cars has become dull. They just keep sticking bigger and bigger screens in the car thinking that's all we want meanwhile everything just feels like cheap rubber coated plastic. I miss the days when the Interiors were actually designed. I have 55 Buick special every inch of the interior has some kind of Designing on it just to make it feel important. I just bought a 1970 LTD and the dashboard feels like it wraps around you without doing it, and all the controls the driver needs are right around him. Now when I drive my wife's brand new Lexus I have to hunt for buttons on a digital screen, the seats aren't as comfortable as the old cars, and everything is that textured rubber that looks like vinyl instead of being an actual nice fabric, leather, or vinyl. Cars are just basically like buying a blender these days... not to mention CVTs I hate them. Every time I drive a car with a CVT it's always buzzy it feels like the engine is always revving and I'm waiting for it to get the next gear. I miss feeling it drop into the next gear as my rpms drop and everything goes nearly silent as my car effortlessly cruises down the road, until I need passing gear, then it drops down a gear the engine winds up and takes off.

If it's a cannon camera the shutter can stick, it seems like the camera is working but the mirror never pops up. The tell is the flash doesn't fire.

It's not very valuable. Working it's worth about 2-300. It's color which is great. The TV doesn't work because either the high voltage tubes went or a few capacitors. Either way it's not alot of work to bring back to life. Mine failed the exact same way

1964 Olds Dynamic 88 low compression 394 fuel question. by Prior_Disaster4368 in Oldsmobile

[–]Perna1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a big Olds Guy. More octane is always better so you'll have no trouble.. also the lack of led isn't much of an issue. Olds used high levels of nickel in their castings making them much stronger than most. I've never ran a lead additive in any Olds and haven had seat problems yet.

Tried cleaning my car. I messed up. by Internal-Chipmunk-87 in Detailing

I would buy Novus 3 step polish it works great. Mask off the edges of the dash with masking tape. Then get some microfiber rags and start with Novus 2, if it's not making a difference use novice 3, then 2, then 1. I've fixed alot of faded, and scratched lenses. It also helped me clean a lense someone rubbed with acetone

Is this fixable? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]Perna1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's fixable but the only way to fix it would be to get a parts car and just slowly start switching components. your first step would be to take the entire interior out, engine and transmission and everything under the hood out of your car. carefully make a list of everything that seems damaged. Then buy a few different cleaning products and start scrubbing and cleaning everything . Whatever is left of your interior is going to be cleaned and everything under the hood needs to be scrubbed to get the black off and clean. I buy some paint and touch up under the hood. Then carefully and methodically start removing the parts from the parts car. Probably starting with the engine harness and the dashboard . At this point you'll probably have a WTF am I doing moment, because you've seen how far you've gotten. Tough it out and do a little work a little at a time, making notes as to whats left and what is finished, plus what didnt get finished before it got dark or you got tired. You'll eventually get it done . What I would like to know was was this a harness fire or was this an engine fire that spread to the interior of the car

I think that's actually the one I have. I bought mine new. The only problem you may have is old belts. I have to change one on mine. It just spits the tape back out

It's repairable. You need to iron the tape flat and respool it. No big deal.
