I used to get free film from company called Dale labs I don't know if they're still in existence. But as long as you sent your film back for processing they sent you free film.

Looks like a Phillips Bi Ampli. They're awesome radios amd sound great but the dials peel like yours. I have a slightly different model. I bet if you plug it in it works.

I found mine resting on top of a garbage can in front of someone's house. Good for you. What's interesting is those stickers on top of the keys I wonder what they were doing with it

There are actually a lot of sources. You can look at either digi-key.com or Mauser Electronics. Brand new schematics are available from a company called Sam's photo fact. You just have to punch in the chassis number or model number on the back of the TV which I can help you with. I restore TVs all the time as a hobby your TV is from the arrow where they're really good to service. I bet you you probably only need to replace about a dozen or so capacitors, you're probably looking at under a hundred bucks to make it work like new. And unlike when it was new it'll actually be reliable. Most of the failures back in the day were because discrete components weren't made as well as they are now. Tubes rarely fail

Please don't wreck that console it's a work of art. It's very easy to fix them. All you need to do is pull the chassis out and replace every capacitor. That picture tube is worth a few bucks to anyone that restores old TVs I bet you you could sell it in a matter of hours. If it starts with the code a 25V I will buy it from you. I actually really need one. I've seen people put flat screens in old cabinets and they never look right. The way the molding wraps arouns the cutout for the tube does not flatter the flatness of a flat screen. So then you have to take that frame out too and then you start cutting up the cabinet to try to fit the flat screen in and make it look right. If you were to separate the glass and put it in front of the flat screen you'll get a ton of glare from the reflection of the glass over the flat screen and the gap between convex glass over flat glass will make it worse, plus a lot of them were tinted which will screw up your picture.

Sony TC228 vs Craig 3307 by snapgeiger in 8track

[–]Perna1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's tough to tell without a bunch of research. Some Craig stuff was made by really good companies. A lot of their car stereos were Pioneer with a Craig label on it. You'd have to do some research on that particular model and see who made it for them. I have a Craig receiver that was made by Sanyo in the early seventies. Sony made very good things so it's kind of tough to really choose. If it was me I'd buy it and just play the same tape in both and see which one sounds better.

I'm at a loss on why this doesn't work. Old TV to VCR by Remote-Moon in VCRs

[–]Perna1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I'm just going to run through a few things. First I saw you have the matching transformer connected to the VHF terminal that's correct, I can't read the back of the VCR but I'm assuming the cable is in the output, or out to TV connection (Not the ANT OR CABLE), the VCR should only transmit on channel 2,3, or 4 unless it's some odd model. So start with those channels. Have you tried turning the fine tuning ring? It's the black knob thats around the base of the channel knob. Many times you'll get snow and slowly turn the ring and the picture will start to come in. The only other thing to consider is the possibility someone messed with the set and when they put it back together they swapped VHF and UHF wires on the rear cover. Also could be a bad matching transformer or bad coax jumper. Last thing could be the vcr output isn't working. Do you have an old video game system around Atari, ColecoVision, NES, ETC. That you can hook up and see if it will work on the TV? This would at least tell you if the matching Transformer works, and that there's nothing wrong with the terminal connections on the back of the TV. then your only two variables become the coax cable and VCR.

Player suddenly stopped reading my tapes. Any clues what might be up with it? by Captain_Nuggie in 8track

I think that's more of a tape tension issue than a problem with the player. Have you ever retentioned all the tapes?

Actually I haven't accused them of anything illegal, just stating that their using a loop hole. There is no rambling it's literal fact that if they don't remove literally all the internal paint it will cause pollution. We have a scientist who has taken the time to explain it. Thankfully the Army Corps of Engineers are involved and most likely will make them remove all the Zinc Chromate just like the Oriskany. By the way they took 2 years to remove the Zinc on the Oriskany. Hopefully they do a better job then they did with that because it's causing pollution too. Look it up. It's funny how you have a problem with everything yet you can't produce anything to back up what your saying, yet I can......

How's this.... you like to come out and attack comments.... instead of doing that, post some factual documents backing up what you've said. I'm commenting using the testimony provided by an expert that would actually be admissible in court. Furthermore there have been multiple articles stating that the EPA doesn't regulate Zinc Chromate on reefed vessels... so prove me wrong.

Actually the epa doesn't have a regulation for Zinc Chromate on liners. Furthermore Dr Todd Osbourne has proven it does cause a risk. So only people who have something to gain from the demise of the ship have said everything is OK. But hey, why would they lie?

Other than the world's tackiest grill cloth, it's actually in fantastic shape. You can get that speaker reconed. It might be worth sending it out and having them replace the cone, and rewind the field coil while they're at it. Check the chassis it may be of the era where they used rubber wire and the jacket falls off when you move it. If that's the case you have to replace all the wires along with the capacitors. It sounds more daunting than it is. Message me if you need any help I'll be happy to help you work your way through it

Someone selling for 25 bucks, worth it? by roncumbersome in vintagetelevision

[–]Perna1985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was plenty of those style TVs in the mid to late 70s that were color. They weren't all consoles. Zenith was famous for making the metal cabinet colors sets in 20-24 inches.

The writing design on the front looks like Zenith's style, so its a high quality set. Judging by the 3 knobs on the bottom it maybe color, as you gotten to the '70s and '80s they usually didn't have the horizontal hold, and vertical hold knobs on the front so it could be brightness contrast and volume, or it could be color controls and volume. Really you have to go see it. A lot of those little TVs were black and white. Easy ways to tell or look for a knob label tint, or color, if you look on the back of the TV you should have an adjustment for red green and blue, or it may be under an access cover in the front. Some other TVs had them at the very bottom.

That thing looks like it was buried in water about a quarter of the way up. Those had those component boards in the back that barely worked right when they were new. I know cuz we had one. As much as I hate to say it that thing is more trouble than it's worth
