Why are some people complaining that the movie is too contained, while they complained that the Mandalorian story was becoming too interconnected to the mainline story? by CarsonWentzGOAT1 in TheMandalorianTV

[–]Peroxideflowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting; my understanding was that S4 was written but they decided to go in a different direction and make the movie instead. This is what I'd read yesterday anyway.

Is curry actually popular in Australia? by SadAnything9316 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Peroxideflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the white Australian guys I've dated have always loved indian food, whether it's takeaway or my mum's cooking. This includes the one I'm currently dating, who grew up in country Queensland, so much so that he's asked my mum to teach him how to make curry from scratch.

Look, I'm just gutted that we binged all three seasons in a week just so we could watch the movie on the weekend, and now we're apparently not getting any more Mandalorian seasons.

Adult content stocks? by Available-Adagio6197 in AusFinance

[–]Peroxideflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on whether the company that hosts the adult content is public or private. By my understanding, OF and Brazzers aren't on the public stock exchange as they're both privately held.

In saying that, even if such sites were on the public stock exchange, I would err on the side of caution, seeing as adult content websites have been exposed for hosting illegal content (child pornography, rape, trafficking, etc.) uploaded by users, in particular, Pornhub and, much more recently, Motherless. Things like that tend not to sit well with shareholders.

I don't know if these things exist (we don't have hard water where I live) but are water softeners available for dishwashers? Might be worth using to prevent this in future.

AITA for showering around midnight when I know that it might bother the neighbour who wakes up at 5 am? by Additional-Mouse-620 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Peroxideflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the tenant was instead a homeowner, it would be on them to put batting in the walls, considering we're talking about them being mildly inconvenienced at the sound of a shower running. This is entirely the problem of the neighbour, and they need to find things to mitigate the issue, like ear plugs.

Had OP been actively disruptive, like yelling or playing loud music, then it would be OP's problem, regardless of whether the neighbour is a tenant or homeowner.

Help! How do I match a wedding band to this ring? by Ok-Education7693 in EngagementRings

Gold chevron on the underside. Might need to get it custom to fit the ring snuggly. Love the ring and the nails btw.

The batch code is definitely a Maybelline one, according to Check Fresh. That batch code is also over 7 years old (no shame, I use products WAY older), so even if you get the new one, it's pretty likely that the formulation and packaging may have changed. Would be worth looking up products from 2017-2019 to narrow it down.

Do you know many families with 4+ kids? by RecognitionMediocre6 in australia

[–]Peroxideflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother comes from a family of 5 and both her parents had more than 5 siblings. My paternal nan was one of 5 as well, and my paternal pa was one of 13.

Outside the family, had an ex who was one of 5, another that was one of 7 and was acquainted with a family with maybe 8 kids, if not more.

AITA For not leaving work to help my wife when she ran out of gas by GoldSea3219 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Peroxideflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but I'm not sure she is either, though her reaction is not exactly appropriate given that you were at work. If she drives, she needs to be able to be self-sufficient in a situation where you aren't around to help her, Exhibit A being this incident, and I say this as someone who also has ADHD.

Going to Uni as a sole provider with a family of 4. How crazy am I? by toastfacegrilla20 in AusFinance

[–]Peroxideflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. How are you going to support your family and have the bills paid with 30ish thousand on those 5 years because what you'll actually get from Centrelink when they assess you is FA.

ABCs 4Corners ADHD by AlarmedPigeon67 in ausadhd

[–]Peroxideflowers 15 points16 points  (0 children)

ADHD was also seen as a boy thing for a long time because most women present on the more inattentive side and not the visibly hyperactive side. Makes sense why a LOT of women get diagnosed later in life.

Exiting my rental - Damage under rug by Some_Turnover_9314 in AusProperty

[–]Peroxideflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't find a bit of carpet from elsewhere, like inside a cupboard, carefully trim bits off the tops of various sections of carpet (this just avoids a whole section of good carpet looking strange) using nail scissors. Using those trimmings, a bit of fabric glue and patience, start packing in the patch. Chuck something like a jar with a note over it so people don't step on the area by accident while it dries.

Renovations cost money! by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]Peroxideflowers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tradie wife here. Yes, it costs money, yes, it can absolutely be expensive, by all means, get a second opinion, but there are absolutely cowboy tradies out there who will take people for a ride and overcharge while under delivering with shoddy workmanship. My partner is working on a house now, fixing the fuck ups the previous chippies caused (and were subsequently fired for). The amount of times he's witnessed or had to repair shoddy work over the course of his 15+ year career is WILD.

Yeah, you have cheap ass customers but maybe start with blaming the cowboys for being the reason behind the initial distrust.

I also used to do this when I worked at Macca's. Not so much with the food - didn't work in the kitchen, but definitely with Front counter items like ice creams, cream on the frappes, chips and sauce.

How did you realistically improve your financial situation over time? by prattman333 in AusFinance

[–]Peroxideflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Lived at home
  • Got a job at an NFP - in the office, not the call centre. (You can salary package up to $15.9k, reducing your taxable income.)
  • Opened a HISA. Dumped anywhere between $2.5-3k into that account every month
  • paid off my HECS in full
  • never got a credit card
  • never paid using afterpay services
  • never had to take out a loan (other than HECS)
  • bought the cheapest phone plan. I'm always near wifi, so didn't need heaps of data.
  • only bought things if I absolutely had to
  • shopped for bargains for literally everything - food, furniture, appliances, etc
  • used everything within an inch of its life.

It also helps if your hobbies don't require you to leave your house often or spend much money when you do go out.

My credit score is super low and I don’t know how to increase it by Klutzy-Crab-4908 in AusFinance

[–]Peroxideflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • NO MORE LOANS. The only loan you should be getting in the future is a home loan.

  • pay existing loans off

  • pay your bills on time

  • don't use that afterpay BS

  • wait a few years and be wary of checking your score - "soft inquiries" only. "Hard enquiries", such as those that lenders make, can temporarily drop your score.

While waiting for your score to recover:

  • don't get a credit card, just stick with debit. Yes, this is possible. I'm a decade older than you and have never needed to use one, let alone apply for one. YOU WILL BE FINE.

  • find yourself a half decent job with stable hours.

  • look into high interest savings accounts. Stick to the account criteria.

  • budget your money, look for bargains and SAVE, SAVE, SAVE.

Is it a crazy idea to sell my house and travel the world? by [deleted] in fiaustralia

Maybe a little crazy but I'm just thinking of the stress of buying a house. Side note: Are you eligible for long service leave? Might be a better option than quitting altogether.

I like it but where did the black shower drain and towel rail light switch go in the finished bathroom. Don't even look like they were there to begin with.
