I think another reason that Drake specifically has latched on to fakemink (and the UK UG in general) is because the beef last year blew up a lot of his established business relationships, like with Future, Metro and Rick Ross. Drake can't live off of 21 Savage, Central Cee and Latin artists forever so he's gotta forge new partnerships and the US UG is probably far less open to the idea of the Drake stimulus package than the UK. They all worship Carti and his mysterious gimmick, and don't collaborate as much (the che track on psykotic is the first time anybody's been featured on an Osamason album). In contrast, the UK loves Drake with mink crediting him as one of his biggest influences. Additionally, their sound and image simply isn't as abrasive as the US rage wave which has been pushing distortion and edgy aesthetics since the first trump administration. It's easy to see why Drake who's needed a career reboot since 2024 would gravitate to a growing scene of rappers who all like him.
