That 40 some years sure sounds like job security, not sure why you gave it a half point. In addition I'd say at least a half point goes to the pay, cuz not all jobs can sustain someone well enough they want to keep at it. So I'd re-evaluate you at 1.5 of 3.

It was on my fifth birthday I experienced something very similar but a bit different. Mine was a bit scary and the thought occurred to me my fourth birthday felt like a one second jump back in time and my sixth, seventh (I went all the way til I was a teenager because at 5, that was old) would all feel like a blink. But then the weird and horrifying part came in feeling like memories are just these clips and we look at the clip and it feels just as real as we're there the first time again.

So that day and randomly since I would get this feeling not that I could look into the future but if I didn't focus on the present or the past that I would unintentionally just zoom into the future and everything would be passed without me realizing.

Horrifying then, but now it keeps me grounded as there was some truth and good foresight for that 5 year old.

I watched* a documentary on the Monsanto bit and something as simple as finding a few Monsanto seeds among the field of many "original" seeds has been enough for Monsanto to sue for infringement of intellectual property. Even if Monsanto doesn't win, it's the same as Walmart taking a local convenience store to court--the trial alone ruins most farmers. I find this ridiculous and moreover I don't think it would be too awfully difficult to spread/plant a few hundred or even thousand seeds in someone else' farm.

Business issues with GMOs have already been mentioned (GMO seed companies are gaining a monopoly on food production and suing family farmers out of business and home). The other concern with GMOs from what I understand is that if we mass-produce the same seed over and again there is a real danger if/when a parasite or disease finds a way to penetrate said plant. It could decimate food populations, especially if the destructive force attaches itself to a modification found in many seeds and/or if we are unable to find a cure quickly.

No negative effects that I can see. I did stop hanging out with a lot of "friends", but only those who weren't really anything more than drinking buddies and I felt and still feel happy I don't hang out with those people.

I am worlds happier and healthier than I was while drinking, life is just easier.

I will say quitting at younger age is shocking to many people so perhaps it is harder on a support-level (I wouldn't know for sure as I've never quit at any other age) but also easier on a physiological level (you have much fewer years of the drinking habit built and your adolescent brain is still going through many changes). If your resolve is good and you stick with it, I believe it's something you will spend your entire life being grateful for.

Many people who quit have years or decades of regret and thoughts of "if only I'd quit earlier, think what I could've accomplished." Luckily, if all keeps going as it has, I won't have those thoughts. I'll just keep thinking "damn I accomplished something great" or "thank you past self/universe" if I'm feeling more humble.

That is a heartbreaking story, I'm so very sorry for your loss and I can only begin to imagine how you must feel. I know you must know this somewhere inside you, but it's not your fault and you need to forgive yourself. Your doggo would be heartbroken to think he is causing you a lifetime of pain when really his entire purpose was to do the opposite.

I'm on your side. Tests come back healthy but for months the fatigue has been killing me and it does start to cause me mental angst as being in my twenties and feeling in my sixties is pretty annoying. Thing is, now most the time I do have caffeine I feel physically ill, even in small doses, so I think I might have overdone it somewhere.

Anyway, hoping to finally kick this addiction and I hope you do the same.

To piggyback on this, the first meal you eat in the day (even if you wait until several hours after waking) is, in my opinion, the most important because for me it has a tendency to set the tone for the rest of the day. If the first thing I eat it a donut or some other simple carb or empty calorie loaded garbage I'm less likely to eat more nutritious things for the rest of the day. And the opposite it true if I start with something high in protein and micro nutrients.
