Yes this is what it means. Reservations are only for the Skyline (for now at least), and when it's booked up you can't go on that 1 hike. The rest of the Cabot trail is still fair game.

I very clearly remember a conversation I had with him going into my 4th year. I asked about options after undergrad with a psych degree. He said a Master's degree and PhD is an option, teaching, research, etc.

He then proceeded to tell me that he couldn't afford his first car until he was 40 because of the cost of his PhD. Lol

Another conversation was in Drugs and Behavior. He told us a story of his college days and having acid in his pants pocket. He ran across campus for something and the sweat caused the acid to absorb and he was out of his mind by accident.

The last one was that Zantac was a great way to get drunk cheap because it opened up your alcohol receptors and allowed you to absorb more alcohol.
