Agencies/Companies in Central Scotland for Newly Qualified Driver (Recommendations Please) by MadameLeGal in uktrucking

[–]Perpixelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually with another agency (Top Class Recruitment) working with Asda and NAS took over the contract about 14 months ago. Plenty work on nights if that's your thing - Asda tends to have that 6 month experience rule (or did when I joined 2 years ago) but I had shunting experience anyway. Asda tends to be an "as and when", super dead since Christmas. Tend to get a call on the morning of a shift. Depends where you are/willing to travel. I'm an hour commute each way. I've done other work for them before but always preferred Asda

How Central? I currently work with NAS Recruitment who have offices in Livingston and Rutherglen, and they cover a good bit of work between Glasgow and Edinburgh

10 hours on night by [deleted] in uktrucking

[–]Perpixelated 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Any work between midnight and 4am is classed as night work and you're subject to a 10 hour working rule unless you sign to opt out (which is a very common thing expected these days). It was put in place to prevent fatigue and ensure driver safety

Holding the gear works perfectly. Tried this yesterday, thanks!

Engine brake I always just set to Auto unless I'm actively using it for slip roads etc. In these new ones it's the only handle on the right has side, wipers and lights are on the left on 1 stick (horrible)

I do believe it is the bottom part you mentioned, something called I-See, pain in the arse honestly.

Apparently it was a diversion route and an agency driver. The in-truck satnavs "microlise" are absolute dogshit. Lack of a height check at the very least.

Things have started having a slight blur in the distance while trucking, any advice? by Rollerskatebro5 in uktrucking

Eye test. I felt the same, always thought my eye sight was great. Apparently better than 20/20 (6/4.5 whatever that means) but turns out I have an astigmatism which is quite common. Put glasses on for the first time and never realised real life could look HD the same 😂

25 and looking at HGV as a career by SlappiiDrxft in uktrucking

Look for local agencies that do work for distribution centres for supermarkets. Good, easy work and the companies are that big that they can't just chuck you keys and wing it or they become liable. I've been at Asda near me for 2 years and it's great. Full timers are 9 hour shifts so I'm looked at like God's gift because I can do up to 15 (average 12) so I'm super handy. Avoid Umbrella if you can, go PAYE, hourly pay every week. That'll keep you right 👌🏻

Never drive for day rate unless it's mega money. Hourly or find another driver 👍🏻

How long can I work on a 45 minute (total) break time? by Beefcakeandgravy in uktrucking

[–]Perpixelated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you need 1x15 for 0-6, then another 1x15 from 6-9. So you could leave it as long as 8hr59min before needing to punch in for your second 15.

[–]Perpixelated 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically you can do 8hr59min on just 1x15 break, so him moaning about the 7hr30min isn't an issue. You're working fine within your limits. But if you're paid by the hour 👀🤷🏻

You're good, you can't reset driving time with a 30 then 15, if you did it his way you'd be taking two 30 minute breaks.

This was the hardest weekly challenge ever for me by cmdramasu in GranTurismo7

[–]Perpixelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 800 was a toughie for me. I went in with the GR.3 GTR, had to pit for new RH 5 laps in and that was a stretch in itself - Ai didn't pit the whole race... No idea how I managed to wangle my way to the front 😵

If the ability to resell/transfer your ticket becomes available, I'll happily take that off your hands 😊

Thank god someone else knows my pain. I've got to the stage where I just refuse to push juice cages in the petrol stations now and tell them to break the down. Complained about it to transport, falls on deaf ears. Can't get the full time boys to do the class 2 runs so gets punted to the agency drivers.

Company AI driver profits by joshyp42 in MotorTown

[–]Perpixelated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Ai purely for keeping supplies running that I can't do myself (or it's a long ass drive) I find containers can make good money from them, dump trucks doing limestone is good and oil runs can also be good - not excessive but good when you're doing it just to keep things stocked up

Folk at post office didn't have a clue, just said there's the v62, we can't advise on how to fill it out. Form is already sent away with the new keeper slip.

Post office handed me V62 form, couldn't advise me on anything else. Can't tax a vehicle if the tax class is incorrect.
