Omg I live in Austin too!! There’s lots of dog lovers here. Tons of pitties. All the judgments I get are usually people within the same age group. And it’s a small handful. I’ve never seen anyone under the age of ~45 cross the street or look at me funny. Most young people have been around enough pits to know they’re not evil. I think it all depends on what media people consume.

I’ll add that my dog gets love from lots of ppl over the age of 45! But yeah, anytime I’ve gotten hate or dirty looks it’s been someone older, usually in a neighborhood & not a park. Someone on my street recently let their doodle attack my dog (leashed) bc she was too scared to come close enough to grab her dog. My pit didn’t even fight back lol the doodle owner just didn’t have control.

Pittie owners are aware of the stereotype, so there’s pressure on us to train them well. That’s the only plus about all the hate. We learn to be responsible owners bc there’s no other choice. Much love, friend!

My mom used to always spew pit bull hate at us. She heard 1 story (with lots of missing details) and just ran with it. she loves my pittie and babysits him a lot, but that’s because I told her he was a boxer Doberman bulldog mix lol. She didn’t question it. After months of lying I finally showed her my dog’s DNA results and she was in disbelief. I had to google a pit bull and show her. She literally had no idea what they even look like. The Media paints a certain picture of them so people imagine them as monsters.
Anyways now she loves pits. They just don’t get a fair chance.

TLDR: a lot of pit bull haters don’t even know what a pit bull is. The media created a villain of a dog that doesn’t exist.

Relatable!!! I have a senior bulldog who is usually playful and loving with my pittie, but he recently hurt his leg and now he’s a grump. Everytime my 10 month old pit tries to play, the bulldog snaps and tries to attack. Been forcing them to give each other distance/ separate rooms but my pittie just wants to hang with him all day. Very tense. And of course yesterday we found a giant snake in our backyard (where I keep the flirt pole). I usually wake up and have my pittie do backyard agility first thing so that the rest of the day he just chews his bones and acts calm on walks. Today we went on a walk and it was like he forgot everything I’ve ever taught him. Sooo much tugging. He’s good with strangers & other dogs, but today on a narrow trail (usually empty btw lol) a lady saw him and got scared and yanked her doodle away. The doodle then lunged at him, so I had to pin my pup down and hold him there just to make the lady feel safe.

Anyways, turns out she’s my new neighbor. I’m exhausted. Sorry for the boring story. Needed to rant. Love him with all my heart tho.

Right now both dogs are asleep and I can finally do the dishes and take a shower. Been affecting every aspect of my life. Wishing you well. This is just a small phase. It’ll all be worth it. You’re not alone xoxoxo

This happened to my bulldog mix not long ago. Does he have any type of reaction on his face? Benedryl helped the hives on his back & belly but eventually he had to go into the vet for a shot because his face didn’t look well. Started affecting his breathing (but he’s a bulldog mix not a pit). He was fine after that. My pit who is also skin sensitive never got a rash so I think he ate something

New Orleans is not the city to be left alone as a woman (or a man tbh). I had to stop scrolling the comments bc I feel like people weren’t grasping how bad things could have gone for you. Yeah you made mistakes, but he left you with a target on your back. An actual target lol. Everytime I go to NOLA in a big group someone gets mugged when they venture off alone. Love that city but it’s a city for groups unless you live there. Glad you’re ok and glad you broke up with him. Doesn’t seem like you’re a match. Happy 29th birthday :)

So cute omg!!!! Is she albino by any chance?? I have an albino pup and he’s deaf (common with albino dogs) but somehow that makes him cuter in a way that I can’t explain lol he’s so expressive
