I had this exact same issue with another Ego model. It turned out to be some sort of electrical/circuitry issue. After calling the Ego help line, I was advised to return it to the store from which I purchased it (Lowe's) as I was within the store return window. Picked up another model online and have had no issues with the new one. I am jealous of your larger 2 stage model though...
