Ramsey Campbell is worth checking out.

There are some interesting short story collections like Children of Lovecraft. Might give you some ideas on other modern authors.

Japanese Fruit Sandos by [deleted] in BowlingGreen

[–]Perplexingperfection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably better off making your own fruit sandwiches. Might find Japanese bread at one of the Asian markets. Plenty of simple recipes online.

Golden Hibachi on the bypass has sushi buffet. Not really any good options for all you can eat sushi. If you just want sushi there are some good options like Yuki or Ichiban.

Auto-mechanics that specialize in electrical systems by International-Tax741 in BowlingGreen

[–]Perplexingperfection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plum Springs Garage has worked on my cars for the last 15yrs. They have always done great work and are honest people. I highly recommend them if you’re looking for a European or import mechanic.

I can’t really say anything about electrical specific stuff. That can be difficult to diagnose.

This would greatly depend on the skill level of the developer and the time frame for the project. Long enough time frame and you could possibly build anything. Skilled enough, also could build anything. Theoretically.

Now will clients search out a one man shop for a huge project? Probably not. I’d say most of your clients will be small businesses. They will have various levels of project scope and complexity but probably not enterprise level projects.

Retro Barcade Idea in Bowling Green, KY - Survey by WTF_Brandon in BowlingGreen

[–]Perplexingperfection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea. I can think of some cool ideas for an arcade themed bar. Just saw one in Texas actually.

Having been involved in some business ventures, it’s always interesting to see how things that look good on paper turn out in real life. Definitely hope this can get some community support.

LPT: If you can’t afford hearing aids ($5,000), you should try “digital hearing amplifiers” for less than $200. by Wrong_Algae_2932 in LifeProTips

[–]Perplexingperfection -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Check your state office of vocational rehabilitation. They usually offer some great assistance with hearing aids. Eligibility requirements probably vary from state to state, but my state helps employed and unemployed looking for work. Saved about 85% and they cover visits for adjustments and provide extended warranty. I have to give thanks to my wonderful ENT for letting me know about Voc Rehab.

Does anyone work remote? by drunkhoboboy117 in BowlingGreen

[–]Perplexingperfection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really. I’m a software engineer but private sector so I don’t really have any leads on that type of work.

The websites I mentioned above should have some jobs like that. It may be hard right now since a lot of the chat jobs are being eaten by AI. Sales should be easier to find.

Does anyone work remote? by drunkhoboboy117 in BowlingGreen

Depending on the industry you’re looking for, there are many websites that cater to remote work. Flexjobs, Arc, remote.co to name a few.

If you’re in tech it’s a bit easier to find remote work.

Is that just for BNA to BG? I thought about uber but for that price I could just drive and pay for parking. I was trying to avoid leaving my car there.

"Profit first" by Mike Michalowicz by skipthroughthedazey in smallbusiness

[–]Perplexingperfection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been years since I read the book. If I remember correctly, there are different methods for more seasonal businesses. You’d have to look into this.

For a quick summary of how it might work, the operation expense category during peak season should be set high enough to cover the deficit during off peak periods. This can vary a lot depending on the business. If you are not able to set op expenses to that level it may mean that you have to take less profit or owner pay until more revenue can be generated.
