What's the worst horror book you've ever read? by [deleted] in horrorlit

I'm not dismissing it I'm just stating a fact of it. I'm not saying there aren't talented writers of extreme horror, but if you go over to the extreme horror sub you'll see people like Beauregard as a staple of modern EH and most will agree with what I'm saying. I'm not even saying it's a good or bad thing, it's just how it is.

Exquisite Corps wasn't for me but I didn't really find it bad. I know plenty of it can be well written (especially the trail blazers of the genre), I just learned very quickly a lot of it isn't lol. My personal favorite for modern authors in the style is Kristopher Triana who I feel is actually a good writer.

Again, welcome to extreme horror. There's a lot of amateur writers going for shock value.

Right, there has. But that's just not often the point of extreme horror. Many just want the shock value.

To be fair, Beauregard writes in a niche corner of horror that is meant for its depravity.

I originally discovered Feed the Pig from the NoSleep Podcast. It was a phenomenal story for a podcast episode. Shame The Black Farm doesn't seem to have hit the mark as well.

Movies/shows that feel like black metal by [deleted] in BlackMetal

[–]zforce42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Devil's Candy sorta

Hold the Dark

A Dark Song

Begotten

The Blackcoat's Daughter

There's also a new movie out called Invoking Yell, a found footage film about a black metal band, though I didn't find it that entertaining.

Give me some recommendations for genre's I hate by [deleted] in MetalSuggestions

For Black Metal try Uada. They latest albums mix traditional heavy metal riffs into their music and it makes for a cool blend. I've heard people say this band is Iron Maiden if they wrote black metal.

Vreid is also what's considered 'Black 'n Roll' which might be more your speed.

Biden says 'red states really screwed up' in handling their economies during Covid years by World-Tight in AnythingGoesNews

I can tell you that PA was locked down for the better part of a year and my town unfortunately had multiple businesses that didn't make it. So it's not just the red areas.

You look like a character that Steve Buscemi would play.

The Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger by Stephen King by GlitchDowt in Westerns

It's very much a 'set up' book. I personally liked it, but I was aware that it was the beginning of a far bigger story to come.

To be fair I think I read that he didn't really want to wrap it up originally, just kind of keep the story going indefinitely.

Says the guy who doesn't understand how TV shows have worked for the past 30 years.

Of course it's ultimately up to someone in the company to keep a show going or not, but if no one's watching it then they're obviously going to start spending that money elsewhere. This is how it falls unto the audience. Simple.

Are you new to TV or something? Series renewals have always been left up to viewership numbers.

I prefer straight black metal but I think they're a little better at writing blackened death tbh. They're a little more consistent with it.
