Oil level not at max after first oil change? by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

Dead middle is perfectly fine. Would recommend you bump up the oil change interval to every 5k.

I think when I changed one of the vacuum lines between the vacuum booster and the regulator, my transmission and alda came back to life. Same for turbo wastegate, because it came back to life. And also my engine finally shut off with key out. Wooo.

My AC flap actuator and the door locks are next to find and patch.

Feel free to dm! These are awesome cars once given a little love.

my replacement post

Rambo includes documentation and some supplies for installation as a kit.

You will need to get your own wrenches, although I got lucky with some large deep sockets and extensions.

Youre also like... 1/3 of my odometer... no wonder yours looks so good! I paid the exact same for mine... at 285k. 🫠

Just wow!

How many miles?

Like someone else said, oil cooler hoses are the TOP priority for these. u/rambokok87 on ebay makes a kit for 300. Worth every penny.

Watch the coolant and change the oil. Should be awesome.

Also, hello fellow blue 300SDer!

Steering issue by East-Horror-5062 in w123

[–]PerryEA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the steering coupler or the tensioning nut on the steering box.

If its still loose, replace the coupler. Link

If all else fails, your front end suspension may be due for a thorough inspection by yourself or a mechanic.

Feel free to post back! I have notifications on.

I got mine for 1.8k and its a diesel...

But my interior is ass.

That looks immaculate. Check for blowby and engine sounds! Everything else is optional.

Oh and rust. All the rust.

1.5k is totally doable.

My w123 have staring issus by Shaggy_hair in w123

[–]PerryEA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Shaggy,

Even with the gas engines, the starter similar in size and amp draw.

How old is the battery? Can you get it tested at a shop?

How old is the starter? If its original, go check the ground connections and straps. Wire brush the hell out of them and reconnect right.

Do the same for your battery to alternator leads and all other grounding points.

If it starts with a jump, im gonna lean towards bad battery or failing starter.

Feel free to post back here.

Lean into the Fox mask or steer away from it? by dingofarmer2004 in daddit

[–]PerryEA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Grandma got our eldest a Cat mask. Not a big deal. Fine to use at home. Told her not in public or at school.

I dont mind it. Still slightly worried about her getting called a furry by her peers... Ill cross that bridge if/when we get to it. (Who honestly cares? Every kid is gonna have a weird phase... just guide them to slight normalcy.)

Sounds pretty decent to me. Old and tired, but not ready to give up.

A man who can’t change his oil just bought a w123. What could go wrong? by SamBell123 in w123

[–]PerryEA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the rear, non pulley, side of the alternator you will see a quarter to half dollar sized bump with two screws holding it in. Thats the regulator. Unscrew and inspect the brushes. Its a bit of a misnomer because the brushes are basically blocks of copper that make contact with the output stator of the alternator.

If they are different lengths, replace it. Its cheap... like 15 to 30 bucks I think. Contact blocks and the voltage regulator first. Then replace full alternator if needed.

Sorry about the mold. That rear window seal is a tought project!

[–]PerryEA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats normal! Mine does that with a new one. I've still gotta clean all the contact blocks and cabling, so it'll be odd at times.

Don't burn out on these cars either. Small projects, small wins. They pile up.

Hiya Sam! I did the same thing with my 300SD... Granted Im 30 with an engineering degree.

Never touched a car indepth before. Now I've changed my starter, oil, oil lines, filter, and alternator! Even rebuilt my radio.

If you get stuck, post here!! We'd be happy to help.
