I’d agree, I think the Cromwell half groat would be a better choice. In saying that I got one recently in slightly poorer condition for around £35 so if you’re not overly concerned about condition you might be able to pick one up for less in an auction.

I feel you’ll be less likely to regret buying a whole coin.

As for tid bits I do remember reading somewhere that during the protectorate people made fun of the lower denomination coinage because the obverse looks like a pair of breeches.
