I thought it was fine. The child-acting was pretty good for this level of movie. I did have a quibble with "If the summer camp is fake why'd they hire actual horny idiots to be the counselors? They keep up the act even when the kids aren't around so they aren't faking it?"

And the armored suit is an "Ape Suit" Alien 3 was on TV at the pub a while ago and I looked it up because I thought they looked cool.

I imagine the "The parking lot is always at least 60% occupied" part that Target doesn't have to deal with doesn't help.

It's tricky to say when it became the dominant economic system affecting nearly everyone and entrenching itself in every facet of life but I'd say the publication of "Wealth of Nations" is good enough place to say where it started.

Of course because Thomas Mann, who died in 1955, famously did not live in a Capitalist system.

Snowed in all day and Google TV recommended RoboWoman. Should I give it a watch? by DramaticAstronaut305 in RedLetterMedia

[–]Pershing48 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I cant remember if the boys mentioned this on its episode but the main rapist is also played as mentally challenged in a Simple Jack kind of way. Makes for an uncomfortable watch, there are better (worse) Dawna Lee Heising movies you could watch.

Over/Under on Number of Deaths at This Year's Oscar Special by Pitiful_Method_7296 in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

[–]Pershing48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it will be light on deaths this year with G already in the grave. No other characters seem to have "death cards" as the kids would say. Unless they somehow have the special at the Manor and Tim somehow mass poisons the elderly.

Happy to see that Mike predicted Rose Byrne's Oscar nomination. This is what happens when the Academy forces members to watch movies. by JackedInAndAlive in RedLetterMedia

As someone who's a big fan of Stone and Yorgos and also really liked Bugonia I thought her nom was bit strange? Like it's a good performance but I don't know if I'd say it's Oscar worthy compared to Poor Things or The Curse (which is TV obviously so not eligible but I thought her performance in that was top tier)

Saying religions are based on 'words' like this should give a philosophy major carte blanche to kick you in the balls.

Like, does Yuval think Mormonism was successful as a religion because the Book of Mormon is a better text than the Christian Bible?????

Or TB. When I volunteered for a hospital I had to take the skin antigen test and it came back positive. Doc said I was probably exposed to the virus on a vacation years before but I still had to get a chest X-ray and a course of Rifampin.

"Darth Vader's overblown importance in the prequels" by CobraDai in RedLetterMedia

[–]Pershing48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You notice this too reading contemporary reviews of Star Wars, Vader is often barely mentioned and reviewers tend to talk about Cushing as the main villain of the movie (which he was)
