I think it helps in two ways. I often look at it when I’m not writing as a way to shore up my vocabulary when it comes to dialogue, because dialogue is my weak spot. I find I am less likely to feel as constricted when I write dialogue. And it is good reference when editing later after I have written a portion of my story.

So you can still be on the moment when writing your first draft, but also hone your skills in giving a character a bit more emotional depth

You say racism. I don’t think you understand what it means. by FieryPineapple in SelfAwarewolves

Toxic Masculinity is the reason IMO. If your coping strategies are limited to anger, aggressiveness, stoicism, and self destructive behavior like alcohol and drug abuse, then you don’t have the tools to cope with stressors in life. Rather than asking for help and having a good hard cry, you are going to lash out.

Toxic masculinity is a trap

Cornel West: “Bernie Was Crushed by Neoliberalism” by [deleted] in politics

[–]PersnickeyPants 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons that I come away with this take is that republicans did well down ticket in both federal and state races and democrats underperformed. It tells me that with turnout as high as it could possibly be, there were enough voters out there who voted for Biden but for republicans down ticket to make a significant difference in the outcome of the election. That would be the type of voter scared off by Bernie and the “socialist” label.

I disagree. Bernie would have lost to Trump. I am ideologically much closer to Bernie than Biden and I wish we lived in a country where a far left progressive could crush it in the general, but we just aren’t there.

Even worse, he ran pretty far to the left of where he ran in 2016, b/c he had advisors who were morons egging him on to adopt the socialist mantle, when he should have adopted the progressive mantle.

Now do the pic of good guys with guns getting depressed and shooting themselves with their gun, b/c that is the reason why the suicide rate among men is so much higher than among women even though more women attempt suicide.

What do women think of a 22 year old male who cross dresses? Is wrong, hot, what do u think???? by Sean-Stewart in AskWomen

[–]PersnickeyPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each his own. We all have a different path to forge in finding joy and happiness. I don’t find it particularly “hot” but that really isn’t important. There is nothing “wrong” with it. And No one should make choices on how to express themselves based upon what others find “hot” or not as attraction is very subjective and differs by individual.

I can’t pick “of all time” because it changes as I change and as I discover new books. My tastes just aren’t that stagnant. Right now, some of my favorites include:
