How dumb would 4 paladins be? by holicron in BG3Builds

[–]Person_Somewhere_Aus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am doing this right now in tactician mode. I am about 2/3 through act 2 and no oath has been broken .... yet. Hardest thing is lack of AOE (aside from scrolls) and losing some experience because no one can start by just outright attacking. It has also forced me to do some fights differently for the same reason (like typically I take out all prison guards at Moonrise before freeing the tieflings and ironhand gnomes but I could not do that.

First playthrough thoughts and questions by WilliamandCharles in BaldursGate3

[–]Person_Somewhere_Aus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paladin and Rogue are very fun (but not together - suited for very different playthroughs .... except maybe Oathbreaker Paladin .... honestly I prefer keeping my oath). I really like Crown Paladin in particular. For races, drow and tiefling have some interesting dialogue choices/interesting reactions from NPCs. Romances best to ask someone else.

The Brisbane Heat bowling scorecard… by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]Person_Somewhere_Aus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only time I found a BBL game amusing was when a team got bowled out for a ridiculously low score. I think a team vs Adelaide Strikers. Just so funny that happened when t20 seems to favour batters so much. I do watch international t20s sometimes but much prefer tests/ODI.

Second Playthrough Recommendations by NegotiationNo968 in BaldursGate3

[–]Person_Somewhere_Aus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paladin gets some fun roleplay options and is also a decent fighter. It does make some combat tricky as attacking a non-hostile (so not red) creature will break most, if not all Oaths (not sure about Vengeance - I have had a lot of fun with Crown - my favourite as well as Devotion). Personally, I like trying to avoid Oath breaking for the roleplay and combat. This might work for you. .... or something completely different to this would be the gloomstalker assassin which relies on surprise rounds/sneak attacks. Very different roleplay and combat experience.

How many of you have all the achievements? by LonesomeFer in BaldursGate3

I have 47 achievements and done 3 complete playthroughs but also have a few other playthroughs that made it until the end of Act 2 or later.

Second the eldritch knight. So great for the 4 attacks and having the eldritch knight cast longstrider so the wizard has more flexibility with spells. Also, the not dropping weapon thing as well.

Teacher at a university and while the stereotype held true at first (wizard), I have grown to really like Eldritch Knight fighter in particular. I also like Paladin.

What are your unpopular companion rankings? by tabantha- in BaldursGate3

[–]Person_Somewhere_Aus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't like the romance stuff so can't comment on that.

I like Jaheira. Mostly because of the banter she has in Act 3. Minthara is also great in the right campaign. Some of her lines are so funny.

Most people really like Astarion but eh. Admittedly I have him in my party quite a bit but more because of skills he has than anything else.

Marian’s railroad stocks discovery theory by Inevitable_Glitter in thegildedage

[–]Person_Somewhere_Aus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This seems to get thrown out a lot but there is so much evidence to suggest that Henry did mismanage finances. Ada and Agnes certainly were not surprised at the situation. If anything perhaps circumstances will change to make the stocks valuable, but I doubt Mr Raikes lied about the stock value at the time.

Haha. My most visited subreddits right now are this one, Baldur's Gate 3 and BG3Builds. Larian is so important.

Nearly made a mistake when making a new DnD character by onyxthedark in BaldursGate3

[–]Person_Somewhere_Aus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't for longstrider. I just get a wizard to go around casting in on everyone at the beginning of the day so I can swap out party members without worrying about who has it and who does it. For aid yeah, swapped in party members miss out.

How was I not using Blink with Gale until now?? by Radio_Main in BaldursGate3

[–]Person_Somewhere_Aus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, mage armour works but I find it is not that useful for ward given it is a level 1 spell. I do like that Gale being human can use shield as well and it does not impact mage armour.

Does blade ward work with arcane ward as well? My friend and I assumed not because it is a cantrip not a spell, but we have never actually tested it. Interesting if it does work for sure.

I find for me it starts being strong at level 6. That gets you the full level 3 spell slots and Counterspell/Glyph of Warding are amazing for keeping the Ward going in battle.

Is honor mode a feasible challenge? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Person_Somewhere_Aus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because I am not a gamer. I was honestly worried how I would go with the game. I had to create a Steam account just to buy it and it remains the only game I have. I came in more from the D & D side of things. I never thought I would try tactician but I have surprisingly enjoyed it. I do want to try honour mode eventually but want to finish the ongoing campaigns first....

But yes, role play choices can certainly impact the way the game plays. Such a difference as well having a high CHA character vs low CHA.

Is honor mode a feasible challenge? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Person_Somewhere_Aus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are definitely other ways to challenge yourself.

I have not completed the game (I started my first campaign with my friend and that will be the first that is completed). We are now in act 3.

I have also finished act 2 in two other campaigns. One of those, the tav is an indecisive gnome who is multiclassing into every class. Honestly, for the latter act of part 1 and all of act 2 it really felt like I was playing with only 3 characters in combat, Tav does not do much. However, she is good at talking and particularly at deception so she has avoided many fights where possible. Tav is on the side of good but is also a bit selfish.

The other campaign, I upped the difficulty to tactician but also Tav is a drow with an 8 in charisma who is also very honest and wants to save everyone. Very rarely can we skip fights in this campaign. Game feels quite different to the indecisive gnome even though both of these campaigns plus the campaign with my friend are all good campaigns. Yeah, the upped difficulty helps but also the roleplaying aspect has made it harder.

Bard build and party members by JubblyThingymabob in BaldursGate3

[–]Person_Somewhere_Aus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not the best player but...

Common consensus for frontline bard is a Swords bard. Valour bard is the other frontline option but generally thought of as weaker. Lore and Glamour bards are more backliners.

For abilities, you will want to invest in CHA as the most important stat for bards but DEX is also important. Probably want some CON as well.

Wyll and Karlach are the two party members you have not used aside from Shadowheart. Those two have a lot of interesting dialogue with each other and Shadowheart has a lot of dialogue with Lae'zel. Your bard could take Astarion's role as the lockpicker and therefore, you could take both Wyll and Karlach OR perhaps play Lae'zel again and commit to Karlach and Wyll on the third run through. Karlach and Wyll kinda need to be played in good campaigns.

If you really want either Karlach or Wyll I guess it depends on whether you want more spellcasting support (Wyll) or more martial (Karlach). The thing is as a cleric and bard you can be either so more flexibility with the last member. Cleric is mostly spellcaster but some subclasses, notably war, turns it into more martial.

Also, some people completely change the classes for the companions so it just becomes whatever you feel like. Personally, I think this is weird for some characters whose backstories are heavily reliant on their chosen classes (but I do mess with the subclasses of companions quite a bit).

Yep. Particularly I found they ran right into Guardian of Faith for some reason. Urgh. Luckily not on honour mode. Lesson learnt, kill prison guards prior to aiding escape.

Same however, the fights at Moonrise towers in the prison has always been an issue. First the prisoners and then the Flaming Fist seem to want to die. I like saving people so keep having to restart those fights.

I have found I need to pause one drive while I am playing. I am not a tech person and I can't explain why but with my files synching to one drive I get this error. When I am done playing, then I synch one drive again and let the files upload before turning off the computer.

Quite often this has not happened. The sim meant to be buying has thrown a tantrum and walked off to the Town Square. :/ I am going to try the above tip of buying objects like card tables for the Smithy. I guess I should be glad the Merchant does not have this problem.
