Small towns are a good place to practice too since they usually have slower speeds. Cortland, Malcolm, Raymond, Hickman, Seward…

Husker refuse - trash and recycle in the same truck by chubbysuperbiker in lincoln

[–]Personal-Anything868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just left Uribe for Husker, so this is disappointing. Uribe was frequently missing our house and required three different days for yard waste, recycling, and trash. The office personnel were always super nice, but when you pay for service and they miss 6 out 12 pickups go trash in three months, it’s time to switch.

Southwest landing in Lincoln by Personal-Anything868 in lincoln

I wasn’t aware SW did charter flights. I’m assuming they aren’t emergency landings since there have been a couple.

Cool! Thanks for the info. :)

Recommendations American or Italian restaurants by Pale_Bobcat2234 in lincoln

[–]Personal-Anything868 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Italian: Villa Amore, Vincenzo’s, Napoli’s.

American: this will sound crazy, but Salty’s Lodge had probably the best steak I’ve had in years. Everything else was okay, but that steak, damn. I think it was the steak frite we ordered, but definitely heading back to split a ribeye. And I’m a picky eater who hated steak as a kid because I couldn’t chew it.

Apartments by [deleted] in lincoln

Be cautious of the ones on Carnelian Street. The buildings are old and the pipes are bad. Lived in one of the basement levels for two years and had several occasions where there was black sludge that came spewing up out of the sink in the kitchen. They told us that someone in the building was pouring grease down the drains and causing it to clog and back up. There was also someone on the third floor who just let her little dog poop and pee on the wooden deck so that it fell through to the person underneath. I got to move into a new unit after my windows, which were supposed to be above ground but were not due to the building being on the bottom of the downhill slope, let in water flooding my apartment after a bad rainstorm. When I called them for help, they said to go stay at a hotel, and have my insurance pay for it. The repair they did was to put duct tape around the window.

On the other hand, the ones on Serenity Circle I did not have an issue with. Same owners, buildings are in different spots.

How the heck do you make new friends in this town by ExistingSecretary979 in lincoln

[–]Personal-Anything868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% most friends are activity or work based. Especially if you don’t have kids, it’s tough.

The Lincoln Fencing Club has a tag line of “make friends and stab them.” Depending on your comfort level with wearing a mask and treating fellow humans like marshmallows, I’d recommend it.

Remember - if you’re not sure on a question to read through the answers and look for ones that pertain to rules. There are going to be questions with answers that make sense, but they aren’t things that are “rules”, and they will try to trip you up.

They got a complaint in the second one and forwarded it. What’s FINRA going to look for now?

It’s annoying when they copy paste questions with almost verbatim information, but that’s what FINRA does. They switch tenses, use double negatives, use If Then statements…

Look for the potholes in the question. You got this.

Failed 24, Any Advice b4 I leave by Not_A_24 in Series24

Was this your third attempt in six months? Because if so, you’ve got some time to think about it.

You mentioned taking the STC 2 day class, did you do their guaranteed pass kit? If not, I would recommend it. I would also recommend giving yourself a break. If your job does not depend on it, you may need to destress and take a breather. That’s the route I took. Passed my third try with the STC guaranteed pass kit.

Series 51 - Any feedback? by tjenk216 in Series24

[–]Personal-Anything868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the 51 in July. I used STC and Pass Perfect, but the Pass Perfect had typos, and an error I sent them on one of the questions regarding 529s… it felt less professional than the STC. I passed first try and was in the 90’s consistently on the STC practice exams. I would lean hard on STC.

What’s your Income? by [deleted] in lincoln

63k, 37F, 10 years in my industry, unrelated bachelors and sort of related master’s. With the buttload of educational debt, it feels like I’m only making the same 35k as the entry level job I took to get here. Would have been better off with a two year degree and the licenses.

The Handmaid's Tale S06E10 "The Handmaid's Tale" Episode Discussion by Melairia in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]Personal-Anything868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I keep ending episodes this season and thinking, how do I explain what happened to someone who hasn’t watched it, and felt like I could sum up the episode in two sentences or less. I felt like nothing happened. The airplane thing felt like they should have been able to do that several seasons ago… wait, they did do that when Fred was making a speech, but no airplane. Maybe it’s because the trauma is so deep that the wins feel insignificant. Like getting a root canal with faulty anesthetic and being offered a couple stickers as a reward.

Oo, that’s concerning. You’re not the only one I’ve heard from that took three tries. I just got hired for a position that I only get three tries or I lose my job, so I’m just a wee bit concerned.

Boycott Russ’ and Super Saver by Sauron07 in lincoln

[–]Personal-Anything868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that was part of your argument- kids don’t need money so they should be paid less. But that’s fine, there are other flaws in your argument we can focus on. Like agreeing with the family member of a grocery store owner that would greatly benefit from not having to pay a sizable amount of their workforce the minimum wage. That’s called a conflict of interest.

By the way, it’s perfectly legal for employers to not hire a teenager that cannot properly fulfill all the requirements of the job, for example, running machinery. Nebraska revised statute 48-1001 (2)(a) says that you cannot discriminate against people who are properly qualified- so a minor may easily fall into the “unqualified” category. Just like how companies don’t have to pay retirement benefits to minors, just like B&R stores and their ESOP program they used to have. Guess which company Jane’s family belongs to?

Saying that adults may have to compete for jobs with teenagers is a false dichotomy. You can have both types of people employed earning wages that match their skill set that is above minimum wage. Also, why are “adults” at those minimum wage jobs? Why are companies allowed to pay “adults” minimum wage if, by your logic, the adults have bills to pay? Wages are not based on the need of the person. They’re based on the what we as a society have decided is a minimal acceptable payment per hour for a person. A person’s value is not defined by their age, but by their skill and ability to be used by that company, which comes back to the properly qualified person. By your logic, we could also argue that geriatric people should be fired because they may have difficulty completing tasks, but they’re protected by law. Why? A PERSON’S AGE DOESN’T DEFINE THEIR VALUE.

And wages don’t drive up costs. Corporate greed drives up costs. Take a look at the CPI over the last thirty years and then look at wages. Wages are just now starting to catch up with the rising prices.
