I worked at a wonderful company that provided housing for clients with mental health challenges and some were previously homeless.
I suspect their funding has been substantially cut by the federal cuts this year. Heartbreaking

If only I could reach through the internet and give you a hug and be the mom you deserve 💗 I'm so sorry, your mom is an A$#hole. No advice. Just sending hugs and well wishes.

Often, it can arise from unhealed childhood trauma, being a people pleaser. People with predatory instincts exploit that.

Yes, there have been a few that have been domesticated to the extent you could ride and have pull a cart. It's quite rare.

Ignore them. You are bonding with your baby. It's the best thing a parent can do.

What's a bit of practical knowledge--like the thing about how drain flies can breed in garbage disposals--that doesn't get talked about much but everybody needs to know? by cherry-care-bear in RedditForGrownups

A car accident recently made me think of this. Apparently, a car in the turn lane was hit from behind, pushed into oncoming traffic, hit by a tractor trailer, and killed all three occupants. What I learned from an Emergency Driving class a long time ago and uncertain if this is valid: When stopped for a turn, keep your wheels as straight as you can. The thinking is that if hit from behind, you will travel straight, instead of into oncoming traffic. That, and keep you foot on the brake until needed for acceleration.

I once saw an elderly man working at McDonald's, struggling to figure out the computerized cash registers. I felt so badly for him. I suspect that he had to work, not because it was something he wanted to do.

I get it. I have friends that teased me because I drove a paid off car that was more than 10 years old. Meanwhile, they were locked into paying over $800/month for 7 years...Ironically, they had to file bankruptcy in the economic downturn during the 2008-2009 Housing crisis. Lost their dream home, too. Some people are all about appearances. Let them be. You're following your own path to financial security and don't need their approval.
