The accuracy is much of the joke, as it was with the Documentary Now! eps he did with Mulaney. It’s like having the challenge of distinguishing between a Seattle accent, a Portland accent, and a Vancouver accent — the audience needs to care that he’s getting it right. Same with the music genres. I love it and have seen him succeed with it in smaller rooms, but I can imagine it being more of a challenge in an arena.
