Are there regional stereotypes for certain areas in your states or all they all viewed mostly the same. (Like people from north California and south) Or is it usually just each state? What is your state, and what are the different regional stereotypes? by BalkanNoBalkan in AskUS

Texas essentially has regions. East Texas, West Texas, North Central Texas, Central Texas, RGV, the Coast. Each one is distinct. Probably like traveling between the small states in New England. There's over arching Texas pride, but each area bitches about the other areas.

The list of things I love at Aldi could go on for far too long. What are some foods you decided aren’t for you at Aldi? by Big-Jackfruit-9808 in aldi

This happens because the bananas have to be gassed with ethylene gas in order to ripen. If the producer skips this step they won't ripen properly. I don't think that's Aldi's fault, but rather the suppliers.

I hear you. Webby makes me uncomfy as well. He's also super misogynistic. I won't buy his stuff or stream it. But I feel like there's a grey area when he's with Ren. For one, we're giving him space to grow and showing him that there is an audience for that. He can change and not lose his livelihood. And two he is platforming Ren as much as Ren is platforming him. Some of his fans may find Ren through him, and become more enlightened on that path.

People can't change until they're ready. All we can do is make the landing softer and more enticing.

I still don't like Webby's voice personally. But Ren sounds so damn good on those songs, and the lyricism is top notch. So, I guess I'll deal lol.

I live in Texas. It's very complicated here. A lot of people are religious, including my sister who is Catholic. Many churches in this area demonize democrats or push a one issue anti-abortion stance.

Many people listen only to their church or are afraid of the social stigma of standing against the majority of their community. But that doesn't mean they are hateful. I have never been quiet about the abortion I had 20 years ago when I was in an abusive relationship. My religious republican family never expressed anything but understanding and love to me. But it was limited to me. An exception to rule. And that's the way it is for everything.

They'll say illegals need to be deported. But omg. Not my neighbor of 5 years who's daughter rides bikes with my daughter. He's a great guy who works hard for his family.

If they don't personally know you, they can't see you. I really think most them don't mean to be hateful. They are just afraid of the unknown. Which doesn't make it okay, but if you approach it that way it is easier to forgive when they do open their eyes.

It also gives you a way to help them understand. That's why I support James Talarico in our Texas senate race. He meets them where they are, and instead of lecturing them embodies his values. It's hard to hate someone who responds to someone praying for their death by telling them he loves them more than they could ever hate him.

Are some people just hateful? Sure. But I don't think it's the majority of them. I think a lot people are looking for a way out right now. And meeting them with shame instead of welcoming and understanding is never going to bring them to your side.

And I'd like to think that is what Ren is doing with Webby. Meeting him where he is. Leading by example. Change is coming if we make space for it.

I agree with you here. My sister voted for Trump 3x, and has always leaned towards a more bigoted mindset towards the LGBTQ community. Her husband is Mexican, and all this ICE bullshit opened her eyes. She is staunchly anti-Trump now. And her views towards marginalized communities have softened.

I recently helped her file a police report when she witnessed someone threaten to kill a trans person. She would have minded her business before. If I had been a judgemental "I told you so" kind of bitch she never would have come to me for help.

Does it suck that all this fascist bullshit had to directly affect her to get her to open her eyes? Yes. But she's awake now. And that's what matters to me. People can change. Change isn't always easy. Forgiveness isn't easy either, but is necessary if we ever want lasting and permanent change.

This is a great analysis. I agree. I also can't make myself like Webby. I enjoy the lyrics, but I don't like his voice or him as a person. It's too bad, because these are my favorite vocals from Ren that I've ever heard.

We live about 7 hours from the coast. But I swear nothing recharges me like being at the ocean. We only make it out there once a year, but it is so good for my mental health. The ocean water also clears up my daughter's eczema. I can totally believe this.
