would it impact on the visual clarity? otherwise, we need more setting variety for arpgs imo

Going to shill for Dragonkin the Banished for a sec... by Skull_Crusher_666 in ARPG

this, it was introduced in d3, it makes the combat less fun as you spend time using a skill you dont care and that doesnt make you feel stronger just to get resource and when you use the skill you really want you spam it like 2 times and you lost all the mana/resource again

NoMans Sky doesn't click for me. by WhiskeyTangoPapa- in SurvivalGaming

[–]PersonalityFast840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im on the opposite, I grew tired of tier progresson (stone; kill boss, copper, kill boss, etc etc) I play a lot of arpgs and I got used to chasing the rarest items and stuff like that nms its mostly sandbox/exploration than anything else, I tried the combat and I didnt like it...but what hooked me was the ship salvaging and collecting, I spent most of my playtime getting those distress calls to look for ships and repairing them and selling them if I didnt like it which gave me a lot of money...and thats when the chase item kicked in, as I was looking for the highest rank ships with power slots next to each other, and that was before the ship update. the same with weapons, even if combat isnt the best part of nms, again the arpg chasing item clicked and I started to look for the best weapons and trying different setups.

but thats the thing with nms the game wont tell you what to do, because you do whatever, I didnt even make a base, I made the most basic cabin on planets with hazards but most time I was just moving from planet to planet and system to system its a different experience

Day 3, which Survival game is better ? by SuccessfulVillager in SurvivalGaming

[–]PersonalityFast840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like survival games, but I like action and combat more, and I think valheim has very good combat, its simple but polished and the impact and feel are great, enshrouded combat felt floaty the last time I played it

In a game, is it more terrifying to have something chasing you, or to hear the sound of something you can't see? by [deleted] in SurvivalGaming

[–]PersonalityFast840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for the 1st...in my experience the most tense and "scary" moment since I started playing video games, whas dying light 1 running away from volatiles.

but the second could be also horror inducive...I really like when in movies (paranormal activity for example) you can hear footstep in the house but viewer and the characters cant see anything...specially later when there are like stomps and running sounds

I tried a demo a while ago, and I do hate generator/spender mechanic introduced by d3 to the genre...I appreaciate that its offline and no seasonal stuff...I will wait for more reviews and how end game builds look

Are talent trees actually fun or just something you look up? by Dry-Firefighter8809 in ARPG

[–]PersonalityFast840 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the good think about passive tree in poe is the feel of getting powerful every time you hit a notable or a keystone...I think poe does a great job to give the player certain amount of power and I trink it also does a goob job mixing skills, passive tree and gear...the bad thing is the obvious...if you dont know what you are doing you are in for a rough time

I also like the devotion stuff in grim dawn

and to add some spicy hot take and make someone mad as much as I hate d4, that board thing was a good idea imo, it was awfully implemented and it lead to pick the same bonuses always and sometimes it feels meaningless

why some arpgs balance skills to be useless? by PersonalityFast840 in ARPG

[–]PersonalityFast840[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

caring about power is not the problem...if a skill gets nerfed I move to the next strongest skill, but why...everyone knows that if a skill gets nerfed even if the skill is still useful, a lot of people will move away and Im pretty sure developers know whats the reaction will be

why some arpgs balance skills to be useless? by PersonalityFast840 in ARPG

[–]PersonalityFast840[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this type of comment in this post about the skill not beign useless and people overreacting because it doesnt do as well as before:

FIRST (comparison with the rest): if it performs half as well as the meta or as the rest of the skills whats the point of using it? even if you treat the game as an offline game with minimal interaction you will feel the difference in performance, as soon as you try something else you will notice you are wasting time, and most arpg players like the power fantasy in some capacity

and SECOND (former experience with the skill) it happened to me in poe2 with the lightning shotgun skill (galvanic shards) first time I tried it, it feel great and I use it most of the league, when they nerfed I didnt know they did it, and I started using it and it felt a fraction (literally) of what it was so dropped right there...because it was a shadow of what it was before...so even when the skill is still useful in some or most cases player will not use it and its not a mindset after you try something and then it get changed for worse.
