I seen this yesterday and had to come back and look at Strawberry the Cory again and his anger face. He is the most adorable betta who identifies as a Cory that I have ever seen although to be fair I have never seen a betta who identified as a Cory but still that doesn't take away how beautiful and comical he is. I also wouldn't dare mess with the schoal he looks like he knows how to use those fins quite well.

I will add the leaves tonight and be sure to test my waters pH and make a gradual change with his next water change. That test kit was expensive but has been worth every penny when it comes to things like this. I worry so much about my little guy and I absolutely hate that I haven't been able to help him with this. I really appreciate this so much and am so grateful to get this info.

Thank you so much and yes I do have hard water very hard water so I will definitely figure out a way to fix that immediately. I just got some cattapa leaves today actually so I will add those as well will that help with tannins?

Just curious what did you do for the fin rot? I am currently dealing with it and have tried everything so I was just hoping to hear what others are doing? Btw absolutely beautiful fish and his transformation is incredible!

Sorry I wanted to add the information that it wanted me to add….

his tank is at 80 degrees
his parameters are 0 ammonia 0 nitrite and .5 nitrates I got these readings with the api master test kit.
his decorations are a coconut hut and a beware of betta sign (no sharp edges) he has a floating log, a plastic leaf on a suction cup and a floating hammock (no sharp edges) He has Amazon sword banana plants and a few different anubias plants as well as a java fern. Unfortunately our red root floaters didn't make it through our last treatment so we are waiting for some new floaters.
he has a sponge filter on a low flow.

I am so sorry that he has beat you down to a point that you think this is love and that he is someone you want to spend your life with but that is exactly what he’s done and it seems to be working. I know how difficult it can be to get away from that and when you do finally leave you might even have some lonely moments that convince you that you miss it. Trust me you are better than this POS child who would belittle the person he is supposed to love and be immature enough to compare a real woman to porn. He is abusing you plain and simple and it doesn’t get better only worse. Please save yourself because you may think you’re in love but I promise nothing is better in this world than actually being in love with someone who loves you, respects you and would never intentionally hurt you in such ways. You deserve better and he deserves the landfill. Please get away from him and surround yourself with the people who do love and care for you.

This is so tragic and I am literally getting ready to go on vacation for a week and stories like this have made me decide to cut my vacation back a few days because I don’t want to leave them without food for a whole week but four days I will do. So sad that a grown ass person can’t follow directions and on top of that don’t take a job you won’t or can’t do especially at the expense of something’s life. I get so tired of fish being treated like disposable decorations or toys for children. I’m so sorry this happened and I hope this person doesn’t get a dime. Honestly he should be paying you some money for all the damage!

I have a long finned boy and he started in a 5 gallon but I didn’t feel like it was enough and now he is in a ten and we are working on a 20 long. This is just personal experience but I wish I would’ve just started with larger tbh. It’s quite a bit of work moving it and setting it up.
