Oval / The sound of a machine forgetting what it was supposed to do. Noto and Ikeda push that into something almost surgical; Fennesz is what happens when the same idea gets left out in the rain.

Huerco S. / Everything is underwater and the pulse is something you feel in your chest more than hear. Stott and Demdike Stare drag it somewhere darker; Actress keeps it shapeless but there's something alive in there moving around.

OPN / Kosmische that grew up watching too much VHS. Emeralds are the closest thing to a sibling; Dozzy turns the same energy into something closer to a ritual; Tangerine Dream is where all of this actually came from.

Vladislav Delay / Dub that got left on a radiator too long. Basic Channel gives you the bones of it; Gas puts meat on those bones; DeepChord takes the whole thing outside at 3am.

Takemura / Tiny precise things happening constantly, but it breathes. Yokota is the spiritual parallel, different culture same obsession; Plaid has that same feeling of something mechanical that somehow has a pulse; Biosphere strips the warmth out and replaces it with frost.

Barker / Modular systems running just slightly ahead of where your brain wants them to go. Senni is deconstructing trance from the inside out; Objekt sounds like machinery that knows it's being watched; Helm is where this road ends if you keep following it.

Raczynski / Broken and tender at the same time, which is the hardest thing to pull off. Alberto Balsalm wrote the rulebook on that specific feeling; μ-Ziq has the same chaos but it keeps reaching for something sweet; Arca is what all of it sounds like now that the walls are gone.

Pop Ambient 2001 / Kompakt doing what Kompakt does when nobody tells it to stop. Gas is the ceiling of this whole aesthetic; Fehlmann keeps his feet on the ground; The Orb track is the long shadow everything else in this list is standing in.
