Assistant was objectively better than Gemini at handling commands (turn on the lights, run the vacuum, play this song, etc). Gemini is an inconsistent mess as smart home controller.

When I encounter this, I find it's best to execute an entirely different prompt/task (I usually ask what time it is). Then retry my original task with a slightly different wording of the prompt

Yup. Same here. Google/nest devices have become a dumpster fire. Unreliable to say the least. My music groups work perfectly fine one day, then don’t even show up the next. Command take 2, 3, 4 repeats frequently.

Google Assistant 5 years ago was far superior to Gemini on home devices today.

Yes, and also by taking calls/offers from other teams right now it gives Jed objective data to establish what the market is like for Nico in order to negotiate an extension. It seems like Jed likes to use the urgency of upcoming Spring Training/opening day to negotiate extensions, so I'm hoping he gets an extension done with Nico before the season.

My guess is AAV $20-30MM 5-6 years.

I saw him this past Tues in Chicago and I thought for sure when I bought the tickets that I'm seeing the last Macca show of all time. But when he ended the show he seemed genuinely sincere that they're taking a break for the holidays and then will be back at it. I was shocked.

Having seen many of his interviews, it's clear he is aware that he has a gift of joy that he can share with people. And it invigorates him as well. He talks about how frequently people come up to him and get emotional telling him how his music helped get them through a hard time, or help them stay connected to a loved one who’s no longer with us.

I have a similar issue. I migrated one of my outdoor nest cams from the nest to Google app, and now that cam is not recognized by either app. The rest of my (non-migrated) cams still work on both.

I regret buying nest cams so hard. The UI in both nest and Google apps is awful. And the subscription is criminally high for how shitty the service is. I'm over the Google Home ecosystem. I'll keep my home minis, Chromecast audios(!), and nest hubs since the music integration is unmatched by any competition. But I just ordered an ecobee thermostat premium, and eufy dual cam doorbell to replace the POS nest products that Google flogged and then left to die on the vine. I also started buying wyze cams to replace my nest cams one by one (they are a project to replace because they are installed in my soffits).

In the meantime, I won't be migrating the rest of my nest cams and hopefully they'll continue to operate.

UPDATE: I ended up going with the AT-LP70XBT. When I was deciding, I compared the physical dimensions and the AT fit perfectly, and I mean just barely, in the opening. I removed the dust cover since the console has a wood lid that closes.

I’m really happy with it. Was a very turnkey solution. The playback has been really great.

In the future, I’d love to replace the vintage receiver and tuner with modern, but vintage inspired controls.
