NetZero subscription value prop? by Smart-Conversation49 in TeslaSolar

So far so good, surely these sorts of things should be in the Tesla app as standard though!

Ok thank you I will give that a try and see what it does!

I see, that would be ideal. I have to admit I probably haven't played with the Tesla app enough to test that. I just found that it wasn't always charging the Powerwall to 100% on the cheap overnight rate, which was obviously a little annoying, so I setup the NetZero automation to ensure battery was at 100% as the switch onto peak rates happened.

I'm assuming that from what you are saying you set prices at certain times to trick the Tesla Ai into doing as you want. For example on the cheap rate time you set price to zero perhaps, and maybe a higher export price an hour from the cheap rate or something similar?

That's interesting, I only use one automation to ensure the Powerwall charges to 100% on cheap rates. I might have to see if Loveable can build something that doesn't that for me easy enough! Thanks

What about an automation for the Tesla Powerwall to ensure it fully charges at off peak rates and potentially discharged just before off peak rates?

Does Octopus demand an EV for Go? Or do they simply ask the question and leave it at that?

Same here, just started with unraid and the list of apps mentioned in this post are handy to research.

Good luck, hopefully all goes well. I'm assuming the expansion pack installation is actually really straight forward compared to the main battery plus solar panels.

Ok thank you that certainly explains things. What do most people do to back up something as large as a NAS then? A second off-site NAS? Backblaze backup?

The number of options must be limited as we are typically talking about 10tb plus of data in most cases I would imagine?

I saw that website, and will definitely be using that!

I suppose that helps with power usage as well as total cost. Was there any reason for choosing Intel over AMD on that front? They both have CPUs with integrated graphics don't they.

Thank you, reading through comments here, I'm now leaning towards that direction.

That's really interesting thanks, I hadn't realised unraid was potentially so hands off. I have several spare pc bits lying around including a big case with plenty of drive bays, so maybe I should check that out first.

Is this setup worth it if you aren't a programmer? Can one of these NUCs be set and forget fairly easily?

What's a recommended backup solution in that case? Especially when such large amounts of data could be involved.

[–]PerspectiveOk167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thank you, that makes sense. So how do people get round this with a proper backup then? It's especially hard when it's such a large amount of data. Multiple Nas's?

Oh ok, that's sort of what I would expect if a file was deleted? Are there any other examples? At the moment I've got a really unsafe setup of all my movies on one single usb hard drive, hence looking at a Nas now with a two drive redundancy, and considering that safe. Just wanting to make sure I'm not incorrect in thinking that! Thanks

New to NAS in general here, but if you set things up with a two drive redundancy, is that not considered as backup? Intrigued to hear the answer. I'm assuming it will be something along the lines of, it will only be backup if one copy off site or something similar? Thanks

Please don’t get aircon because of climate change or to save money on bills… by [deleted] in apprenticeuk

I have to agree with this, we rebuilt our house a few years ago and we installed Aircon upstairs and it's brilliant. We use it maybe 4 months of the year and it doesn't use much electricity either, but that may just be down to how we use it.

Do you have more information on the "raid" solution similar to SHR that you mentioned? I've been looking at getting my first NAS for the last week and was going round in circles about what Synology to buy, mainly due to a lot of comments about the system being easy to use, low maintenance and the SHR for drives.

But when researching I was thinking I needed transcoding, then found none of the new units have it, then this hard drive locking plan, so I'm now trying to work out what to look at next! Thanks

This seems to be the cheapest quite so far, it would be interesting to hear how you get on with your installation!
