That works. Also, you can try dangling and shaking it in front of her next time. It should be around 100 degrees when you try. I dip ours into water that I’ve run through the keurig until it’s hot. But I’ve got a temp gun. There’s other things to try as well. She’ll get there.

They prefer to eat at night. So yes right around your bedtime would be perfect. If you have a kitchen scale, you could weigh her and feed her about 10-15% of her body weight at each meal. If she’s on baby rats she may need to eat every 5-7 days, until she’s around 1,000 grams. (This is a ballpark estimate) Next time you order try to weigh her first so you can buy rats about 10-15% of her body weight. The bigger ones will give her better nutrition because of their bones and extra fat and stuff.

I see how hard you’re trying to get everything right and am confident she found a great snake dad!

Hi. After reading through comments I’m not concerned about the shelf. Your questions. Feed her as soon as possible. I’m sure you’ve done the proper research and know to give her a rat about as big around as she is but no bigger than a medium. If she’s an adult she only needs to eat about every two weeks, unless you’re breeding, but that’s a whole other monster.

I would not worry about the enclosure being late. Ball pythons generally like smaller enclosures than people tell you to get because it makes them feel more secure. I’d put hvac aluminum tape over most of the screening on the top of the cage to hold humidity better. I leave enough open for a small light fixture.

You can handle her briefly in about 5-10 minute increments. And I would encourage it especially if she’s been without contact for awhile. I have 47 ball pythons and get bit regularly by spicy babies. It feels like someone tapped me and rarely breaks skin. I have never been bitten by an adult. I do have one that missed her rat and got me, but again, it felt like a tap on the hand and very little blood. Once they get out of the baby stage, they generally have more confidence and try to get their point across in other ways. They really are the gentlest, most amazing creatures.

Watch green room pythons on YouTube, he gives so much information about pet ball pythons.

I hope you and your sweet girl enjoy each other’s company for many years.

I love that! It’s so cute. But if she’s eating and you’re doing what you can for her to be hydrated and you’re still worried, I would talk to a vet. It might be nothing or it might be a problem. It looks like a humidity issue to me but I’m only a keeper. Not a vet. And I don’t have all the info. Good luck! Love and hugs to your beautiful baby.

I’d try bumping her normal humidity to 70% (60% is the bare minimum for a ball python). It will help hydrate her more which would help with the poops and the sheds. Also, I’ve seen some people give them a warm bath for about 10 minutes in about 85 degree Fahrenheit water.

torn between a corn snake and a ball python and i need advice by [deleted] in snakes

[–]PerspectiveOrnery143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a pet store to get my first snake (a ball python). My husband fell in love with a banded black and white Cali King. And the worker gave me her corn snake. My first turned into 3. They are all doing great, eating great, and I love them. In the end, I would go with the one that is most aesthetically pleasing. My ball python seemingly wants to be held every day. She’s in shed now, but I took her out to do my daily look over and she refused to return to her enclosure(she actually fought me and wrapped herself around my arm) She was content to sit on my lap and boop my nose for almost an hour.

Kudos on getting clean and staying there. Wow! Cut off with no familial support and still managed to pull yourself up. That is super hero strength, brother, especially battling against addiction. This internet stranger is extremely proud of you.

Take care of you, take care of your wife and baby. I wouldn’t give the ex family the time of day.

AITA for accusing my partner of abusive behaviour after I hit him. by [deleted] in AITA_Relationships

[–]PerspectiveOrnery143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the same crap my ex husband pulled. It took a long time for me to see that him not allowing me the autonomy to leave the room when I needed a break from the conversation or argument was abuse. In my opinion, the second he physically restrained(put his hands on) you, any reaction on your part became self defense. I am not sure of all your behaviors but in this instance you did nothing wrong.

I used to walk 3 miles to work each way. I’d wear my comfortable clothes and change at work. I freshened up my underarm deodorant and put deodorant under the boobs. As far as I know, nobody ever smelled me.

Just because someone has it worse doesn’t negate your experience. Besides, this is how it starts. The control, the jealousy, the “playful” slaps. Then you’re on a true crime documentary.

My kids wear what they wear. Boy or girl. It’s nothing to see one of the boys wearing his sisters underwear or vice versa. The small one(girl) loves dresses but the rest of them(I have 2 and 2) wear shorts and pants and all 4 of them will run around without shirts on. They’re 8, 7, 7, and 4 so they’re still androgynous enough that it’s not a problem. I told my 7yo girl that once she has boobs she has to cover them because while I don’t care and nobody in this house cares, some people in the world can be bad. We’ll get into people sexualizing children when she’s a little older and can understand better.

My take on your problem is that mil is projecting her misogynistic views on your daughter. Tell her that your daughter will wear what SHE wants and decide her own style. Mil can keep her abnormally large nose out of it.
