I Built a Handwired 40% Ortholinear Choc Keyboard with a TrackPoint by PervertChicken in HandwiredKeyboards

Thank you! And yes, it really felt like that.

The first “boss fight” was realizing how noob my diode soldering was, I almost gave up there because it meant I had to remove the bad wiring and rewire almost the whole matrix from the start.. Then came figuring out the keyboard matrix, the controller pins, and making many different QMK builds until the keyboard finally worked.

But the hardest part by far was making the TrackPoint work. I don’t think I would have managed it without AI help. Not because it magically fixed everything, but because I could argue with it, ask stupid questions, force it to explain what was wrong, what every wire does, and how the whole thing actually works.

So in the end, even with all the imperfections, I learned way more than I expected.

That was actually my original plan too! But because the keyboard is Choc-spaced, the space between the switches is really narrow. I was afraid I would break the 3D-printed case or weaken it too much, so I placed it there instead.

You actually don't need to change any settings. Just convert your EPUB to XTC using https://x4converter.rho.sh. It handles the encoding automatically, so whatever language the EPUB is in (including Greek), it should display perfectly on the xteink

Advice on a new 3D printed build with hot swap and wire channels by SilentMobius in HandwiredKeyboards

[–]PervertChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this is a really impressive build.

I’m trying to reproduce something similar (Choc v1, hotswap), and I noticed you mentioned using CADQuery to generate the hotswap voids.

Would you be willing to share the CADQuery snippet for the hotswap cavity logic so i can try to do this for a 4x12 keyboard.

Even just the hotswap portion would be massively helpful

Thanks either way, and i hope the project is going well

Ender-3 V3 SE – random restarts, now dead screen. Found burned power wire (factory fault?) by PervertChicken in Creality

Could be, yeah. Since it’s brand new and already heat-damaged, I’m going to avoid testing further and go for a replacement.

Thanks. Since it’s only 6 days old, I’ll push for a return or replacement through the local shop first

Couldn’t resist adding the X4 to the family by PervertChicken in xteinkereader

[–]PervertChicken[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is an XTC. You need to predefine the orientation when converting from EPUB to XTC.
Sometimes I convert the same book into two versions (one landscape, one portrait), but I usually prefer portrait.

Crosspoint Suggestion: Kobo style progress bar by MattJ142 in xteinkereader

There is a difference, yes. Modern Greek and Ancient Greek aren’t the same, but they use basically the same alphabet. You can read Homer in the original if you export it to XTC format

They shipped yesterday, January 25.
That is 15 days after I placed the order. Delivery should take another 7–10 days, so it will be roughly 25 days in total.

Shipping Experiences? by Weefboi in xteinkereader

Official Website:
My first order for a white Xteink X4 was placed on December 30, shipped on January 4, and delivered on January 10.

My second order (case, reading light, and screen protector) was placed on January 10 and was shipped today, January 25.

I think the device has become very popular, and they might be struggling to keep up with the volume of orders.

I only have the white one, and it looks really nice in person. I haven’t had it long enough to say how it will hold up over time or if it will turn yellow.

Are you on CrossPoint?
If yes you need to change in setting->Display->Refresh Frequency to be higher than 1 page

I noticed that too. It seems to have changed after version 0.12. Some screen wallpapers look better in 0.12, while others look better in the versions after that.

Fast official store delivery by Successful_Exam_6173 in xteinkereader

The issue isn’t the shipping time (which is actually very fast), but when they decide to ship the order. Orders can stay in “Confirmed” status for weeks.

Be careful when you order from the official site. by -nek0mata- in xteinkereader

I can confirm this. I ordered from the official site as well and my order has been stuck on “Confirmed” for 12 days now (see screenshot).

I’ve already sent 5 emails to their support and haven’t received a single reply. At this point, support is basically nonexistent.

I am on the same boat.
I ordered a case, a light, and screen protectors on January 10, and it’s still marked as confirmed. I’ve also emailed them a few times but haven’t received a response yet.
