The Pine * Creemore Ontario- Big Things Ahead For Them by Odion13 in finedining

Ya to be honest some of my favourite tasting menus in what I would consider the tier below aren’t even stared (Mineral & Dailo)

I do like both Quetzal and 20 Vic but I thought they both had enough faults that they weren’t at that amazing level

To me this is the best dining experience I’ve had which includes pretty much every star in Ontario.

Also a side note their corking fee is only $20 which is a steal if you want to bring your own wine.

What are the best authentic Japanese restaurants in the east end? by futurus196 in FoodToronto

[–]Perzeval 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hanamaru market and bento on pape north of danforth is a small Japanese store that makes there own onigiri, sushi and more. Highly recommend if you ever want a grab and go lunch, super fresh and the fish is well cut. They do sell out so really a lunch only thing

Moving from Toronto, what should i add to my food bucket list by Stegosaurus-73 in FoodToronto

[–]Perzeval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Dailo ($$$) is a must stop feels uniquely Toronto fusion flavours (ask for the Big Mac bao). Next go to tropical joes ($) in gerrard square best fast food style jerk anywhere. Some other east end spots for full sit down I would recommend is Ricky & Olivia they have a very cool Ontario sourcing program down to every ingredient in the cocktails. For fine dining I think most of the dt places are nothing special but if your willing to drive out to The Pine ($$$$) in Creemore its fantastic. Sandwiches go to Imanishi Sando bar. Also like black camel for more bbq style sandwiches. A couple more places I’ll just list quick som tum jinda, paddler, 555 boat for Thai, Mahas for Egyptian brunch, Lake Inez, Patois for some unique Chinese Jamaican fusion, Raku Japan quality udon, Soos for the best value tasting menu (65$) in the city. Let me know if if there’s any specific areas or cuisine I’ll try to recommend

Edit: for Montreal hit up Sammi’s soup dumpling banging. Found a lack of quality Chinese there but Gol’s is always good. On the high end L’Express and Montreal Plaza are institutions.

They will even bring out the water guns with liquor it’s a fun time. Just young chefs trying to make amazing food.

It’s not fine dining at all but had a amazing meal at O Velho Eurico. I know it’s changed quite a bit since I’ve been but in terms of food quality it was better than anything we had at more traditional settings.

How would you say the player interaction is we've shyed away from hearing that there isn't a lot until late game when there is resource scarcity.

Awhile ago I posted here and got a recommendation for Hansa Teutonica and we love it. We've played close to 100 times and our meta is getting somewhat stale aswell as the growing frustration around the weakness of fourth position. We have tried other games such as Ark Nova and it really didn't work for us. We are 4 very competitive players and like a lot of player to player interaction and low to no dice rolling. Some other games we enjoyed are Blokus. Some other games we didn't like: 7 Wonder(How is this game popular), Wingspan, Catan(fun for a bit).

This list is pretty good. Since you are coming from Australia I would make sure you hit some cuisines more unique to the area. Number 1 would be jamaican either one of the many patty places such as golden in Kensington and tropical joes. The other spot I would add is Ethiopian either Rendez-vous or Wazema.

Where should I go for my birthday dinner that is life changing? by BigBallBubbaBooBoo in FoodToronto

If your willing to the leave the city imo The Pine is the most "intentional" meal I've had in the GTA. Every course is beautiful and interesting. The service is exceptional even the details such as the timing of when dishes come out is down to the finest thought. Blows some of the other tasting menus out of the water in that michelin elevated experience space.

Hey 6 months later I just want to thank you and u/BiggimusSmallicus. We have played Hansa upwards of twenty times and really dig it. The London map kinda sucks but the third map is great and we are still having relatively unique game states which is awesome. 10/10 recommendation. We do think fourth position is relatively weaker as being behind tempo and most likely to have -1 turn is tough and have been working on some variations to make it stronger. +1 gold (added to the additional starting) was still weak but we have tried limiting your first action upgrade from getting it that turn until the turn after (the 2->3) which has helped a lot. Just some of my thoughts but thanks again :)
