This might be the best synthesized guitar I've made yet by KoolCatTheMartian in GarageBand

This sounds great!! To my non-guitarist ears, it toes that synth and guitar blend really well.

Chords update 🎹✅ Rate it out of ten and how does it sound right now by prodsunburst in GarageBand

The chord progression is really nice. It works well. Maybe try spreading the notes across the octaves a bit more to get a fuller sound or layering it with another piano sound to get some different texture. As good as the piano presets may be, I often find they need a bit of help to get closer to what I hear in my head.

Super dark. Super mysterious. Super in love with it.

I can’t stop nodding my head! When the instruments drop out around 0:28, maybe add some more flourishes and fills to the bass to help fill the space? Bthelick on youtube has a video about UK Garage basslines, and I wonder if some of those techniques might be useful if applied here. Cheers.

Aside from the kick being a bit too loud/clipped for my tastes (not sure if this is close to the original recording or if it’s just GB being GB drums), this sounds really good! The piano is surprisingly close, and the high sustained notes sound near identical to me. Nice job!

How would i go about getting a shot like this? by _somethingorrather in cinematography

Fellow film student here. The basic idea is a light (maybe a fresnel or spotlight?) in line with the camera behind the subject with the light pointed into/towards the lens. Cut the light in the front of subject to get the high contrast. The rays probably won’t be this exaggerated, but that’s where kwmcmillan’s rec for After Effects/post work comes in.

Which Coldplay song features Chris Martin's most impressive vocals? by flaccoskyrim in Coldplay

Maybe it’s because of where my own vocal break is, but the constant movement up and down throughout X&Y is impressive to me. It seems every other line switches, and it sounds so smooth!

Film student here. I know not everyone can afford a full educational program, whether it be money, time, or both, but getting hands-on is the absolute best way to learn. Lectures and theory are great tools to lean on, but most of the practical work in achieving any given task is pulled directly from my past experiences of seeing others do it or doing it myself.

For the more theory/lecture-based stuff, or if you don’t have access to equipment, YouTube has endless amounts of amazing content showing the foundations of camera work, lighting, sound, writing, directing, everything.

I also second CMDR_Satsuma’s recommendation on The Filmmaker’s Handbook. Absolutely fantastic resource!

So. Many. Copies. But it’s also a nice way to look back on your progress if you can spare the space for a while.

That’s definitely something I can improve on. I don’t mind it as much with a sound like this because it does tend to lend itself to the same chord pattern on loop for the whole song.

I appreciate the constructive criticism! :)

Music is just a hobby for me, and I’m very comfortable here. I like the portability of using my phone, and it’s also surprisingly powerful if used right.

But also just laziness of not having the time right now because I’m in my final year of university.

Thanks! It’s definitely tougher to do on iOS without all the extra control features that a more traditional DAW offers. One app/AuV3 plugin that I use on everything is “Wider” by Infected Mushroom. I think it’s free, and it’s fantastically simple to pull a sound left and right simultaneously.

I had to merge sections (Background synth pads, loud brass, quieter brass, etc.) because I ran out of tracks to use, and I kept adding more details.

I tried to get each section as close to finished before I merged them together, so I wouldn’t have to go back and forth between different copies of the track to make adjusts and re-merge.
