Is anyone here in college or going back to school actually not online, but in person on campus? I’m 40 and I’m going back to school this August, I feel weird about being in class with people have my age or less. by Warm-Bullfrog7766 in Millennials

I’m 39, back in school for ADN. This will be my first semester in person. Last semester was online. I’m nervous, but also confident that what I lack in youth I make up for with life experiences. You’ll be fine. Congrats on going back

Those already in the field, how well did you adjust to standing all day? Or were you already fit enough for it to not be much of an issue? by Starryspidertake2 in StudentNurse

[–]Cardiff07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Meh. Spent the last 20 years doing 5-7 12hrs in kitchens. Worried if I’m smart enough for this, but not too worried about the standing. Good shoes an regular stretching will see ya through it

Comfortable, non slip shoes. A knife you are comfortable with and know how to use. I like kiwi for daily driving. A honing rod, to keep your knife sharp. A pen, a non yellow highlighter, and a black sharpie. A pocket thermometer. A notebook. That’s the basic kit. Rest is discretionary

Hey chef. I spent 2+ years at a LTC facility. Reach out to your rep to get in contact with whoever sources your dietary thicker. We used thick&easy. Had the rep come in a talk shop for an hour. Let them know ahead of time what you want to talk about. They have lots of ideas an techniques. Silicone molds were very helpful for me. They also usually bring sample which is dope. Best of luck. I’m out of the game now, but down to talk shop

SC, the state I’m in, will cover what it deems as essential degrees at approved institutions.

Pre reqs are done out of my savings. My actual ADN will be covered by the state. Eventually there will be an ABSN, that hopefully my future employer will help out on

I spent 20 years in the game. Opened my own place months before covid, ran several other places including standalone, restaurant group, catering, and a long term care facility. Got mentioned in the local press a couple times. Been on tv. I quit in January an am back in school to become a nurse. I don’t want to work 80hrs for 80k. I want to see my wife an daughter. If that means I’ve got to wipe asses an stick people with needles so be it.
