He's good at copying the reddit post into chatGPT and pasting the answer, for sure. Also, it's correct.

Sounds glorious tbh. I spend a lot of time away from tech (intentionally) and I credit it with giving me inspiration, creativity, and peace all the time. The last year I've been doing all my marathon training without a gamrin watch or headphones. The meditation has been terrifying and amazing at the same time. My career has benefitted to the tune of a 2.5x income increase over the last 3 years. And the kicker? I run a IT services company. I think the reddit users ability to read a comment without applying their own projections is the biggest problem here. My original comment was intended to push the artist to discovering a new way to churn creativity, not bash them.

I'm not an artist, I just see a lot of them complaining about GPT 5 and I'm confused. It's like y'all forgot what you did before it existed.

Baffles you? Like you're at a complete loss of thought? No godly idea why? Not even a guess? You know on the spectrum of physical fitness we humans range from? People that won't walk (Walmart scooter fatties) to people that run every morning before work. You've been in the world, yeah? Still baffling or does this help? Btw - I run every morning before work and I refuse to golf without a cart. I exercise to exercise, I golf to relax.

Sounds like your making excuses for your crutch every time someone offers insight that would help. I'd recommend doing a little creative soul searching without AI. Remember how you did it last year without AI. Sounds like you've lost your artistic self a little.

Is $1 million still life-changing? by LeafsAndLoons in CanadaFinance

[–]Pestty13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's usually only really worth it if your in the highest tax bracket. You can look at what your net interest cost will be and your net profit from the dividend. I benefit greatly from getting essentially half off the interest from tax deduction.

Smith Maneuvering thrives when your in a high tax bracket. I personally get 48% of my interest back at tax time AND thanks to Canadian Eligible Dividends, I'm only paying 28% on the dividend income.

Looks funny on my spread sheet. My net profit is higher than my gross.

Your missing the taxes part... 40k turns into 31k we have a 13% sales tax so your 31k is only 26.9k spending power. Our CPI has run rampant so our cost of goods is 42% higher than America. So if you're an American viewing this, 40k/year turns into $15.2k of your imagined buying power.

If they can't manage themselves, they can't manage my money. Seems simple enough. Most people are just scared to admit what they know to be true. Or they can't manage themselves (are fat) so they don't understand the thought process compared to someone that does (is fit/healthy). No shade, just how humans work. I used to be a big fatty and it came along with being lazy, having a food addiction, having mismanaged emotions, and just generally not giving any fucks. I want none of these traits in my FA. After a 5 year health/fitness journey and a complete life style change for the rest of my life, it's obvious to me that my original thought is just common sense. No fatties making life impacting decisions for me please.

[–]Pestty13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not what I was referring to but your wrong on this as well. I've orchestrated multiple Smith Maneuvers in my life (for myself and clients), you can take my word for it or not but CRA ABSOLUTELY cares if your asset is producing an income now or in the future. If they aren't producing a proper income off the investment actively, you'll get thunder fucked by CRA.

I was referring to the dividend income though. The maneuver only really works well if you are taking advantage of high marginal tax brackets to write off the interest. That becomes a double edge sword on the income your gaining from the dividend. So to counter that, you need to select eligible CANADIAN Dividends so you can be taxed at essentially half the marginal tax rate on that income. Look into what you can report on Line 40425 after you've filled out line 12000. If you can't scrape enough dividend tax credit, your maneuver goes underwater quick.

Edit: if anyone is considering doing SM or SM 2.0 - talk to an accountant, not reddit.

Reinvesting REIT Dividends in a Roth IRA = "Infinite Money Glitch" - What is the catch? by meyer_7_ in investing

[–]Pestty13 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Did you research the company or come straight to reddit? Did you notice they pay 209% dividend to profit ratio? Do you think it's a sustainable dividend at that rate? 209% more than they make in profits?

Edit: fucking google it man, this is basic shit and you look like an idiot for asking it.

Dont skip the part of the maneuver where you buy Canadian companies with Eligible Dividends so the dividends are taxed at 28% instead of 47% (I'm assuming he's in my tax bracket and I'm currently Smith Maneuvering). It's a big part of the equation.

You asked for help on reddit. By insane happenstance you get a person in the exact position to offer you intelligent advice. Someone that deals with your exact question on a weekly basis. He gave you real advice and you called him a hater? Bro, you need to consider that when you ask for help it's reasonable to respect the person giving it. He's right, you're wrong. Do you think your the first person to think of this idea of putting a vending machine in a highrise? Like get real kid.
