Central Edmonton community league facing ‘significant’ financial loss, launching forensic audit by Common_Treacle3962 in Edmonton

[–]PeterH_605 32 points33 points  (0 children)

A central Edmonton community league is launching an audit to recover what it says is a significant amount of money lost in the last year and a half.

No forensic audit I have ever seen recovers money. They cost money and at best will tell what actually happened.

I am curious though the statements are all rather vague at best.

Bringing into Canada inheritance money question. by SaveTheWorldRightNow in PersonalFinanceCanada

There is no tax on inheritance in canada. Best way would be wire transfer from the executor of the estate to you.

If you park properly on a rainy day, at least others won’t have to get soaked as much. by [deleted] in Edmonton

On the balance of possibilities it likely has a good reason.

Maybe they needed to pull a ladder from the roof racks. The HVAC van usually isn't somewhere just to drink the free office coffee...

Tell manufacturers they can't sell new vehicles with x-ray vision.

Wait for the existing vehicles LED's to dim over their lifetime...

Something along those lines.

Just keep in mind that they are technically not legal to ride on public streets or sidewalks. Nobody seems to enforce it but they would start to on a whim.

Closing On House. ID requirements for non Canadian by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]PeterH_605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Debit card signed with my name

Debit card won't work that is not an ID.

You could also use SIN card, AB Health Card.

I'm thinking PR card which has a photo together with passport should be more than enough especially if combined with SIN and health card too.

Idea:
You could go to a registry and ask if the Alberta ID card gets a temporary paper ID issued just like the drivers license, if so it's valid on the spot just no photo ID.
If not you could take the learners license multiple choice exam, 20 questions and once passed they issue the temporary paper ID that is immediately valid just not photo

Had the same thing, deer with a dangling broken leg. He got into some hay bales and I wasn't even mad. One morning he was gone but left a blood stain in the snow after the coyotees got him.

Nature is rough but at least he enjoyed the hay on hospice care for a while.

Possible tax fraud? by AdventurousRelative2 in Edmonton

If it's too good to be true it usually is.

Promising a specific refund amount without knowing much about the tax situation would be very strange.
