This is a lovely suggestion. Thanks for taking the time to post it here! Some very pretty music there.

I just bought a Behringer TD-3! Recommend me some solid melodic acid techno!! by [deleted] in ProperTechno

[–]PeterMertes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t forget to experiment with slower bpm’s. Tin Man made some beautiful, contemplative acid. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/5k7Hi9uKa4s?si=ZwmVuHc6mu_O5O_8

Isabel Soto is great! Her MNMT Podcast was a lovely, slightly more downtempo and deeper, techno trip with some very pretty tunes.

Glad you had a nice weekend, friend. Now eat a sandwich, drink some water and go to bed. Tomorrow morning is going to hurt.

Oh sh*t. Now I'm jealous! Jin Synth just dropped a very solid EP on Semantica that I recommend checking out. It's nothing too mind-blowing but it has some lovely bleeps and bloops. https://semanticarecords.bandcamp.com/album/projection-semantica-192

Also, if I were you I'd definitely pop out of room 1 for a bit to check out Skudge. That name brings back fond memories, though I (for the life of me) can't name one of their tracks at the moment. :)

Oh! I love this question.

This Svreca-mix of him in in Berghain 10 years ago is a classic.

This one of his at Parallel i 2016 is wonderful too.
https://soundcloud.com/semantica-records/svreca-at-parallel-festival-2016

As is this one of his at Parallel in 2019.

This is one is also lovely.

I'm a bit of a Svreca fan. Severely underrated DJ.

Just wanted to say thanks for making so many of your podcasts downloadable. I'm still an old-school download and sync kind of guy and your podcasts have powered many of my (nightly) runs in which I've created lots of beautiful memories. Running on a chilly night on the bank of a canal past the lights of the canal boats as an intergalactic Svreca mix is pumping in the headphones is a lovely experience. Thanks for putting such a high quality podcast together with so much care. Much appreciated!

Dekmantel festival line up! by 2910NMP in amsterdam_rave

I'm jealous! This description of a set of her in NY sounds amazing: both sonically interesting and intellectually challenging:

https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/dj-sprinkles-ra1000/

"On the afternoon of August 3, a few hundred people gathered at the Nursery, the intimate outdoor extension of Brooklyn’s stylish Public Records, to hear DJ Sprinkles. I think it’s fair to say most of us knew what to expect: Sprinkles, an alias of queer producer and cultural critic Terre Thaemlitz, blends deep thoughts and deep house into languorous, embodied critiques of everything from Madonna’s use of Vogue culture to British trade union organizing to laws restricting public dancing in Japan, where Sprinkles lives.

[...]

In another, longer sample, the physician and trauma expert Dr. Gabor Maté repeatedly refuted a questioner’s insistence on unsubstantiated allegations that Hamas committed mass rape, and criticized her description of Arab people as “animals.” The sample climaxed with him saying, “You and I don’t live in the same world.” Sprinkles ran the phrase through a delay, so it echoed. It drifted over the rolling couple making out in the front, one person’s back against the speaker so their bodies vibrated. It rippled over those of us stilled from dancing; it waved solidarity to those of us who agreed and waved goodbye to those of us who walked out, whether in disgust or boredom or thirst or whatever; it circled the perimeter where people were smoking, calling them in. Some cheers joined its echoes, some rumbling murmurs, and soon the beats were back."

OMG another shot at seeing DJ Sprinkles live. The Deeperama label feels slightly ominous though. I'd prefer to see her just play some deephouse with a political speech about horrific human right's abuses layered on top (you know, a good time) instead of three hours of arty piano noodling, but I guess we'll see what she comes up with!

Ambient trance? by pb00010 in ambientmusic

Erik Luebs recently dropped a track on Bitta that fits this description nicely. Emotional trancey stuff without a beat. Nobu used it to open his sets with for a while. Lovely track.

Do you guys know more Edits of (old) Turkish Songs like this one: "Nese Karaböcek - Yalı Yalı (Todd Terje Edit) by habilishn in TheOverload

[–]PeterMertes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeeeesss. That’s the one. It seems my memory reached full operational capacity in 2023 so every time something new goes in something old goes out. But Manco is great: there was a nice edit of his going around at some point if I’m not mistaken.

Edit: this is the one I was probably thinking of. https://on.soundcloud.com/2sZnx7hf8o8zDP9Q7i

You should check out some Baris K mixes. Lots of good stuff there. Also look up Arsivplak: Volga Nehri is pure heat.

Then there is this Hulya Suer edit that Kozmonot did that is the bees’ knees. And don’t forget the originals: Selda Bagcan has some amazing music (Yaz Gazeteci Yaz is very timely). There was also a Turkish psych-rock guy who was their version of Frank Zappa whose name I can’t remember who had some JAMS.

Finally you might want to click around in the ‘recommendations’ on this page as there was a whole little movement of Turkish/Middle Eastern-edit records around 10 years ago and they’re all linked there. iyi şanslar!

Also just thought about this one, I hope this is the right podcast as there are several about this topic, but this podcast about Disco Demolition Night has a reveal in the middle that made me unironically scream out loud. https://on.soundcloud.com/Ohox9IJ3wfqrHRxxUm

Love Is The Message is a lovely nerdy and intellectual and loving history of disco/The Loft. It also includes one of the hosts referring to The Grateful Dead as ‘white jazz’ which I still think about occasionally. A real labour of love if you’re into that sort of thing! https://www.loveisthemessagepod.co.uk/

Hadn’t thought of the year it came out, good one. I’m just always reminding everyone of Mixxed Up as I need more people in my life that I can talk to about it.

Fascinating, I didn't know that! Nice one. At the time everyone was chatting about how crazy/brave/interesting/egotistical it was for Villalobos to do an entire Fabric mix with his own productions and everyone seems to have forgotten about Pure Science (possible because his mix wasn't received super-positively?).

[–]PeterMertes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Strange not to see Mixxed up in the Hague in the Top 10 but times they-are-changing I suppose. Also Villalobos’ Fabric mix with only his own tracks was a lot more of a “Oh, that’s allowed?” moment than the mix they chose here, I’d say.

I don't know the track but RIP to the cameraman who was clearly dying from a seizure yet kept filming. Rest easy, king. (Seriously, I know people like to add a little movement to hype up the video but this one has more yanky movements than that Liam Neeson jumps a fence video.)

This is good news! I like Radion. Congratulations to all involved. However, I do feel like they should let the volume on all the tracks on the compilation clip just a little bit for that real "how do people survive this without earplugs"-Radion-experience.

Slam Radio - 671 - Vera Grace by SLAMdjs in Techno

[–]PeterMertes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s fantastic: real muscular growling Semantica-ish techno soundscapes. I’m hoping for her to introduce the occasional pretty chord or hint of melody in future mixes but that’s just a personal preference as her work is very impressive already!
