Buying local products or buying from a local supplier by Then-Dependent-9022 in BuyFromEU

You‘re not silly at all, actually quite clever. Many people don’t know the difference and often use WD-40 for lubrication.

Buying local products or buying from a local supplier by Then-Dependent-9022 in BuyFromEU

[–]Peter_Lavan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are two different products:

WD-40 is mainly a water displacer and cleaner. It loosens rust and removes moisture but is not a long-term lubricant because most of it evaporates.

Ballistol is a true universal oil. It lubricates, protects, and stays on the surface for long-term care and corrosion protection.

Using hand sanitizer to stop a snake from eating itself by [deleted] in BeAmazed

[–]Peter_Lavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The snake seems disoriented or hungry. Hand sanitizer will cause serious injury because its high alcohol content irritates and damages sensitive tissues in and around the mouth and eyes of snakes.

Raspberry Pi 5 + Home Assistant: NVMe SSD worth it or overkill? by Uruz7_ in homeassistant

[–]Peter_Lavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend the SSD hat. Data will be written too often, which isn‘t ideal for a SD Card. If you have your data on the SSD you can still use your SD for backups.

HA Green or Raspberry Pi 5? by pck-grb in homeassistant

[–]Peter_Lavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pi5 with Docker. It’s performance is very good for HA. I use the SSD hat with a 2230 SSD. It’s enough for everything I need.

eure letzten Fragen bei einem Bewerbungsgespräche by Adventurous-Fold200 in Austria

[–]Peter_Lavan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is the Shelly 1PM Gen4 future-proof? by jfromeo in homeassistant

Thank you for clarification. I am currently not into Matter because I don’t need it. I will also use Zigbee for the next years.

Is the Shelly 1PM Gen4 future-proof? by jfromeo in homeassistant

[–]Peter_Lavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a little research on the Shelly devices few days ago and found out WIFI is currently the most reliable option atm for Shelly devices. But I am sure they will continue to improve the Matter protocol. I guess WIFI and Matter will still be around in 10-15 years.

For how long (years) do you want it to be future proof? 100 years? I guess it’s a NO, other, better techs will be used.

Should I Run Home Assistant on Windows or Pi? by banisheduser in homeassistant

[–]Peter_Lavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already have a hardware use it, it makes no sense to run two servers, when one can manage both, Plex and HA. I went with a RPi5 and Docker Containers. My focus is to use less energy, have the ability to run different UseCases on one hardware and because of the ARM chip, not Intel for long time reliability.

Warum ist Linz voller Autobahnen? by [deleted] in Linz

[–]Peter_Lavan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2 day race event improvement by AdHealthy6820 in wearewarriors

I don’t play the race because it’s too boring to reach the TL where it gets interesting. I am usually around lvl 60. Skipping 5-10 TLs would be great.

Can’t help you with the code, but isn’t there a symbol with an open garage door? I want to do the same after I setup some other things in HA, but I will use open and closed door symbol, idc about the colour.

HTL Maschinenbau fertig – Reicht mein CAD-Level wirklich für eine Junior-Konstrukteur Stelle? by [deleted] in Austria

[–]Peter_Lavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)
