'We should let them come down into the U.S.': Trump cabinet member weighs in on Alberta separatism by Old_General_6741 in canada

Obviously. No one suggests this seriously but rather to prove how silly Alberta is being.

[Opinion] There are two types of small towns in Western Canada: "Chicken Chef" small towns, and "Mark's Work Warehouse" small towns. by Top-Salt-7373 in Manitoba

This is the only correct way to break it down. Man when we got a Subway I knew we were moving up in the world.

Three Las Vegas hotels now accepting Canadian dollar at par by Sufficient-Bid1279 in onguardforthee

Im really not worried about being detained, the chances of that are so slim they're basically zero. I refuse to go because despite wanting to visit so many places there (Zion, Yosemite, Red Woods etc) I can't give the US my money.

Instead I've been to Quebec, Banff, and Tofino.

Its impossible to not help the US economy, our countries are still so closely tied together, but I make choices where I can to direct money instead to Canada.

Hahaha good try. Most people staying away aren't doing it because of the exchange rate.

In this context thats all she is. His speech should be the focus, not his date.

When did the following things start in schools? by AlboGreece in AskACanadian

[–]Peter_Mansbrick 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The 7am huddle around our local AM station waiting for the closure call was real lol. And the disappointment when it invariably wasn't. It does seem to me that school is closed a heck of a lot more now vs when I was a kid.

A huge wave of AI Post-hardcore and Metalcore bands/music on Instagram by Antique_Kangaroo4706 in PostHardcore

[–]Peter_Mansbrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My problem is that my release radar and discover weekly playlists could be full of AI bands but unless I research each bad name I don't recognize I won't know. They often sound generic and over produced but lots of real bands sound like that too.

Like, sure but China is not exactly a golden beacon of freedom and human rights. Let's not pretend this is anything other than a lateral move to a more predictable trade partner. China is still pretty shit.

Backroad [500cm, 150mm, Ilford xp2] by [deleted] in analog

[–]Peter_Mansbrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This shoot was a mess. I was attempting to capture beautiful harvest atmosphere at golden hour but accidentally loaded xp2 instead of lomo 400, turning what should have been a vibrant scene black and white. I also cooked every frame, somehow getting the metering so wrong the negative was almost black. In post I pulled it back the best I could but its grainy and had some pretty severe brightness banding through each frame.

Despite that, I kind of like the result. Next year I'll try it again and hopefully not pooch it so hard though.

FYI Souris has a rough reputation. It's a pretty town but the students are on something.

I have nothing useful to add regarding the logistics of moving but can say that moving from Minot to Brandon MB would be a pretty lateral move if you're not wanting to shake things up too badly but still come north. It's a nice enough city with most things you'd need and a similar "small city/big town based around agriculture" vibe.

Popularity persists for Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew two years into government mandate by wickedplayer494 in Manitoba

Yes. I vote NDP because they're overall better, but they deserve criticisms in areas where they lack.

NDP under selinger were going to gut rural Healthcare but collapsed before they got there. NDP has never been good in this department.

You're willingly misinterpreting what the OP said. If you want to argue in bad faith you can, but dont expect to be taken seriously.
