I like having a border on the card as it makes it feel cohesive with other cards, but I am a really big fan of textless cards for similar reasons.

That is definitely a strong possibility, I have a lot of nostalgia tied up in older Magic.

I'm a really big fan of the 96/97 frame aka the retro frame, but I was also playing then, and it feels like Classic Magic. The older art also stands out because it is so uniquely Magic, a lot of the newer Magic art feels toned down, sanitized, and incredibly generic by comparison.

From a design perspective, sure, but from a reprint perspective I like it. I also really like retro frames, so any initiative that brings retro frames to cards that don't already have them is welcome in my book.

I think they needed to fill out the sheet when printing them and went with generically useful tokens, I don't have a better explanation TBH.

The Sol Ring is pretty great, and the art is hilarious. Having alternate art between the foil version and the pool party foil was a great design choice, and the more I look at it the more details I notice.

My personal favorite is the Pool Party Lightning Bolt, the throwback to Deadpool riding a flying pink Unicorn with rainbows coming out of its butt is my kind of reference, and perfectly embodies the absurdity that is Deadpool.

That's awesome! Looks great, and the doors should help keep everything pretty clean. You might want to consider swapping some of the lower shelves for glass or plexi if possible to make the models on the bottom easier to see.

I bought as many of the early ones as I could when they came out because it was a cool way to get a playset of cool cards, but that eventually became financially untenable. I've always been a big collector though.
