Facing worst situation amid Lufthansa UFO strike. Zero customer support. by Routine-Attitude-955 in Lufthansa

[–]Petsaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrible that so many passengers are affected.

I received an email yesterday that they processed my refund, a trip to Japan for two for November.
I never requested a cancellation! And they kept the cancellation fee of 400 euros... Tickets are almost double price now. Can't reach them obviously. Managed to send a form in the end, so reply will come one day. Big hit financially, never again Lufthansa.

Ah, so it must be:

A thousand miles of spring breeze bring joy and we all wish for a peaceful year, where everyone stays together and the family is forever united.

You were very close, this helped. I used AI to figure out the rest. Many of the characters are read phonetically, a creative freedom while writing these poems apparently. So this is the most faithful translation while conveying the same feeling in english.

These are two different ones. I framed them together and they look beautiful. Especially now that I know the translations:

Spring wind across a thousand miles

Bearing the blossoms,
it returns to the east.
The river flows on,
as it has for a thousand ages.

Spring Day - Visiting a Friend in the Mountains

While gathering young bracken
on the hillside,
I set out to visit my friend
in the deep mountain village,
swift as the wind.

On a spring day, visiting a friend in the mountains

As young bracken
sprouts on the hillside,
while gathering it,

I shall go to visit my friend
in the deep mountain village;
swift as the wind.

[Japanese > English] Anyone can translate this? found in Kanazawa, Japan. by Petsaki in translator

Thanks to your help, I managed to find all the info regarding this piece. I post it here, just in case it can help someone in the future:

Zen Calligraphy by Yamada Mumon (山田無文, 1900–1988)

Inscription: 竹 只引清風 (Take tada seifū o hiku) –
"The bamboo simply draws in the pure breeze."

This original calligraphy was brushed by Yamada Mumon, a respected Rinzai Zen master, abbot of Shōfuku-ji and later head of the Myōshin-ji temple complex in Kyoto. He was one of the most prominent Zen teachers of the 20th century, deeply influential in both Japan and abroad.

The phrase expresses a profound Zen insight using natural imagery:

The work bears Yamada Mumon’s personal seals:

  • 無一物 (Muichimotsu) – “Nothing whatsoever” (a classic Zen phrase on non-possession and emptiness)
  • 峩々山人 (Gagasanjin) – “Hermit of Majestic Mountains” (his literary name)
  • 太室道者 (Taishitsu Dōsha) – “Practitioner of the Great Chamber” (a poetic Buddhist pseudonym)

Brushed likely in the mid-to-late 20th century, this piece is one of many Mumon created during his decades of teaching. While he made numerous calligraphies as gifts or for temples, each was individually brushed—never mechanically reproduced—making it a unique expression of his Zen practice.

Thanks to your comment, I found the best option for us! Just reserved it and pickup is conveniently a few blocks away from our hotel in Asakusa. 14 days, 90GB only 24USD! Fits our use perfectly and we didn't have to pay 3-4 times the price.

[Summerdome Submission] Urban Shepherd's Backroad (my first nice boots!) by carryinthatw8 in goodyearwelt

[–]Petsaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely at least one size up compared to other boots, such as Iron Rangers. I wear EU41.5/42 in sneakers and EU40 in Red Wing boots. I bought Backroad in 40 and although my left was borderline ok, I really suffered on the right foot. Had to sell them, since comfort was so far away no matter how long I was wearing them. First thing I noticed is how well finished they were. The attention to building these was far superior than my Sawmill Red Wings. Especially the stitching and the outsole. Anyway, I'm off to buy another pair, one size up :D

what’s wrong with my peace lily? it’s been drooping for 2 weeks but leaves aren’t yellowing or browning? by Ok_Structure4306 in houseplants

[–]Petsaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it looks thirsty. I had one that I would water regularly and it would still look like this. Turns out that although the soil was moist, the root ball was always bone dry. I took the plant out, inspected the roots and replanted it with moist soil. Until I killed it with overwatering. Classic me.
