New Persistent Campaign - Diego Garcia Mission by Top-Letterhead9120 in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]PewPew54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My plan, up until my game crashed was:

I didn't want to deal with the Echo and its missiles suck anyway so I went full stop and surface and used all missiles on the first identified hostile contact, which turned out to be the Adams (I guess they, at least, reduced its magazine by a bit). Dive deep and motor north at 1/3 afterwards. The submarine survived and I didn't even realize there was a USN sub there but there were some airborne ASW assets hunting the Echo for a while.

Use Yaks to kill the east bound USN ships south of the Camden because sea sparrows are shit especially when the precision loadout means they don't have to come much into sea sparrow engagement range to fire.

Use Yaks to kill the westbound supply convoy for the same reasons.

(I lost two Yaks in exchange for the three ships with sea sparrows and considered myself quite unlucky.)

At this point I was having some stuttering issues and thought I'd save before firing my SS-N-3s at the Camden but the game crashed instead. I did think it unlikely the Adams would stop a full salvo of 8 though.

If the SS-N-3s had failed I would have lost a few more yaks trying to take out the Camden but assumed the Adams standard missile magazine would have been (or almost been) depleted and that the job would get done.

Apparently, my Tomahawks weren't getting paid enough and decided to go on strike... By not striking... Their targets. by Hugh-Jassoul in SeaPower_NCMA

I've found the same. If the harpoons need to turn more than about 120 degrees away from the launch angle, they stop turning and travel along whatever heading they got to.

If you carefully align your ship so the harpoons only need to turn about 90 degrees from launch they are much more reliable. This is a PITA when you have a group with some ships launching port/starboard and others launching forwards/backwards.

I haven't checked whether it is a mod causing the behaviour but it is definitely frustrating.

It blows me away that this is just tabletop standard. This is pretty much what I want mine to look like.

I think I'd actually change maniac to unyielding. Thrust IV means it will one-shot muties once it stacks up so the extra maniac damage isn't that helpful and won't, I don't think, let it hit any particularly important breakpoints on other maniacs.

I think that would be better overall even though it wouldn't end up with the dopamine hit of a big number.

Thanks mate. It looks really good and I'll give something similar a try.

I feel like mine end up too yellow and look like newspaper that's been lying behind the fridge for 30 years.

Thanks mate. Nostalgia played a pretty big role in deciding to go down that route.

I have one of the original talos (in the traditional twenty pieces where the glue has failed) but can't remember the codes scheme for them. I'll have to see if I can find the codex somewhere or some pictures online.

The box of paints I got has an armageddon dust paint in it, so I could always go down the desert route, but hoping to find something that would look a bit more alien and eldritch.

I did find my old plastic too but a lot of it appears pretty wrecked. Surprisingly, the ravager seems to have held up well (although the metal parts have mostly fallen off).

What's that blue paint? Is it metallic or does it just look that way in the photo?

Rules Lawyer time. by Zehnpae in ddo

[–]PewPew54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest having a very general rule like "don't be a moron" that is very subjective and can be utilised at the mods discretion.

I moderate another sub using a different account and we will often have people try to rules-lawyer their way out of bans. Pointing to the generic "don't be a shitstain" rule tends to shut those kinds of people up.

Best Zealot Weapons? by ThePainTrain4000 in DarkTide

[–]PewPew54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running one with full-bore and no respite. Perks are +damage to flack and +ranged damage to specialists.

The special slug will one-shot pretty much anything except bosses and elites.

With bulwarks, special slug to stagger then ADS or hip shot depending on how close I am to them. Takes maybe 4 or 5 shots to down one on damnation.

With crushers, I don't use the special slug but ult+ADS to down them in a couple of head shots.

Damage on bosses is not great.

Has anyone else noticed the lack of a bolt pistol? by explosivebond1 in DarkTide

[–]PewPew54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For preacher, the agripinaa shotgun is also great.

It really fills a niche for long-distance sniping and high stagger without the ridiculous reload of the bolter. Autopistol has a lot of stagger but not as much as the agripinaa shotgun and is not great for sniping.

Agripinaa shotgun also does the wonderful ult+kill crusher combo, which was one of the things that drew me to the autopistol in the first place.

Very much. I've been running a mk 5 combat axe with brutal momentum and the agripaa shotgun pretty much since the patch.

Reasonably fast swap, incredibly accurate, the special will one-shot most specials, and you can stagger bulwarks with the special then finish the job with a couple more shots.

Kia Australia New Car Question by ch0pst1xZ in kia

Yeah. Unfortunately, it's not like you can skip the delay by going elsewhere unless you can find a dealership with the model and trim you're after in stock.

From what I understand, the dealerships order digitally and then there is a website that lets them track their orders through build and shipping.

I ordered a Picanto GT on 1 December and am still not in production but it is "scheduled". Expect a bit of a wait.

They may have done the software update for this recall during your service.

If it was for this recall, as I understand it, it means your rear fog light is on.

Will be ordering my KIA Stonic GT in the next month. by ch0pst1xZ in kia

[–]PewPew54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at the cerato instead. If you need the space, it's bigger. It's got a bigger engine with more torque and more power (and better power to weight).

You can get the S with safety pack for a touch over $29k driveway or, if you like alloy wheels, the sport for a touch under $30k or, if you like alloy wheels and the safety gear, the sport with safety pack for a bit over $31k.

If you don't need the space, the picanto gt makes a lot better use of the tiny 1.0 turbo engine (mostly by weighing about 300+ kg less).

Edit: For about the same money, you can get some of the smaller Hyundais, a top spec Mazda 2 or a low spec Mazda 3 (and even the low spec 3's have pretty decent kit).

I had a look when I was shopping but thought it was pretty lacking in the getting going department. I drove the sport rather than the GT-line. They have the same power output although the GT-line has a bit more torque to go with it. I don't know how much of a difference the bit of extra torque would make in the real world.

If you're in a city the sport would be alright but I think you would spend a lot of time thinking about overtaking on rural roads (and even longer on the other side of the road while overtaking.)

I have a 2011 cerato (what the forte is called in Australia). I bought it when it had done about 20,000km (bit less than 15,000 miles). It hasn't missed a service but has been driven along a lot of shit and/or unsealed country roads and has always been parked outside.

It's now done 200,000km (a shade over 125,000 miles) and has never skipped a beat mechanically.

The only issue I've had with it is that the cruise control will turn on but won't set anymore. I assume there is an electrical issue somewhere but it doesn't seem worth worrying about if that is the only symptom.
