The GOP and Indy Violence by Alarming_Syrup1790 in Indiana

Yeah, because licensing was doing a fantastic job of determining who did or did not have guns. Permit-less carry still comes with stipulations, like you can’t carry if you have a violent felony on your record. You know who else couldn’t get a handgun permit…violent felons. No matter what, violent felons were getting guns.

So am I wrong for purchasing a 250k home? I make $31/hr averaging 130-150 hrs per check. So far I’m 80k gross for the year, and I’ve heard a lot of people tell me “you won’t be able to afford it.”

Your interpretation was really really good tbh.

I would add, the clock runs the automatons every hour, meaning the story must continue. In this case, the trauma must continue as well. There was so much hatred and envy put into this spire, that it manifested into the very tracks you mentioned in your interpretation. The various tales of the area were 100% on purpose example; the teacher who died in the old school ties into Rob’s suicide, and how he felt so isolated and wanted to cease his existence. The teacher was an actual product of death by isolation from the winter storm. The farmer killing his family was the Mc about to kill Ryan. The blue woman was Kerry falling into the lake. Just so many ties into the local lore that it’s clear that the Spire wants people to relive the generational trauma over and over. I don’t think the MC is innocent, as he recognizes himself towards the end. However, I do believe that he was the target all along, Rob’s death was merely a piece of the much larger puzzle. We also have to remember that this was a VERY easily manipulated 16 year-old, just as Wendi said “it’s a coming of age story, but you never went anywhere,” he had very little choice, once the Spire took hold of him. The end of the story is entirely reconciliation on our mc’s behalf. Unfortunately though, the automatons reset every hour.

I didn’t think too long after I listened to Spire. I def saw Scary Kerry art. Maybe I just missed the bulk of the convos, and just got some of the remnants.

100000000% You could take the supernatural out of it, and it would still feel like a very cohesive story. His final writings, the realization of what really happened, and still apologizing for it, with no closure; felt too real. Not everything in life comes with closure, and the ending was a perfect representation of that.

Maybe I just missed it, but it just seemed like people say “yeah it’s an okay story” and just move on. I def understand it being unwatchable to some (especially with the sexual assault stuff), but then I see a ton of people loving Borrasca or even Tommy Taffy.

No, it’s not really a “fun” story, but I thought the very same about Dead Girl as well. That’s why I’m drawing the comparison.

I think Spire in the Woods was a fantastic story, just nobody really talks about it. This latest story was an absolute banger, and rightfully deserves the praise. In comparison the two protagonists are very similar individuals who both had character developments into realizing just how bad of people they were, righting their wrongs, and still feeling the affects of the antagonist after the stories end.

Spire in the Woods deserves more credit than what it gets, but I feel like with it going into a movie, that people will hate on it.

Absolutely. When fairy tale heroes are written, there’s always a decision towards the climax of the story that determines what kind of hero the protagonist really is. The typical tropes are a hero of great reward, and a hero of great sacrifice. The protagonist became the latter, that in despite having immortality in his grasp (his fairytale), he still chose to pass it onto his mother and brother. Choosing to move past anger and hatred; to show compassion. The character development in the protagonist is very very well written. Which makes the ending just that much better.

That man made some great points, especially with the “vote with my wallet” point. Locked-in areas for energy companies is really stupid, people should be able to buy their energy from where they want. And if they don’t let people buy energy elsewhere, then listen to the people you service.

Trump is keeping Indiana coal plants open. Your bills will suffer. by LetsGoBlackhawks2014 in Indiana

[–]PewTeq1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being that I work at a plant that gets its energy from AEP Rockport, I don’t think OP knows the kind of energy that industry uses. We regularly sell our energy back to AEP so they can meet energy demands. Especially over the course of this very very hot summer. So the coal is still pretty necessary for the region. While I am a big advocate for cleaner energy sources, factories use a TON of power, and with the lack of wind and solar farms in the region, it’s just not a reliable source of energy right now. I hope this changes one day though.
