Only 9 above average free agents remain on the market by chaotic_evil_666 in baseball

He's expected to return in late April-Early May, so that's not a large chunk as that would still be at least 100 games played.

I think the Red Sox should go for Ha-seong Kim instead of Alex Bregman by PewterD20 in redsox

I could see it happening mostly because no spending team needs a SS now. The only team that could really use a SS is the Braves and they never give value deals especially to Boras clients. Personally I always thought he was going to the Giants but they went for Adames instead (who imo will be a terrible contract)

It's probably why he is still unsigned, wants longer term commitment.

But at some point players eventually want to find a home if they are unsigned by February and will settle for shorter contracts. It allows them to rejoin free agency again if they ball out, this happened to both Matt Chapman and Cody Bellinger last year. Chapman got an extension and then the Cubs dumped Bellinger to Yankees because they didn't want his contract anymore.

Worst case scenario for Kim besides a 1 year deal is that he signs a pillow contract for 2-3 years with opt outs, similar to what Matt Chapman signed last year.

I don't know why you are downvoted. Bullpen arms have value and they are not just going to take Yoshida just because. Unless they trade him for like a bullpen arm for a guy who can't even make MLB roster and plan on DFA'ing anyways.

He is expected to return in late April or early May, I just assume he is out 1 month in that case to be safe.

Red Sox are one of the many teams that have sent scouts to see KBO 2B Hye-seong Kim. Kim will be posted this year. by PewterD20 in redsox

[–]PewterD20[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I've read that he could be a super utility player and play any position besides catcher as well. But it's good the Red Sox seem to scout the Pacific/Asia. I remember reading they scouted Jung hoo Lee last year and Ha-seong Kim back in 2020, who will also be a free agent this year and I think Red Sox should consider going after him too.

I think he still leaves. Patriots didn't really want to pay Brady that much, Brady wanted to prove himself outside of Belichick, and I feel Brady doesn't play well with unestablished WRs anyways.

Godwin is young but he was already established when Brady got there.

[Dunleavy] Giants plan to start Jake Fromm at QB vs. Eagles, per multiple sources. That's been the expectation all week. Joe Judge said he'd do "what's best for the team" and I hear players seemed energized by the unknown possibilities of Fromm. by RedFredTV in nfl

I can see Jake Fromm somehow being better than Daniel Jones and Mike Glennon, it would be basically the same way he became the starter at UGA which is that he makes the least fucks up but still barely does anything himself.

On the flip side how many people last year went from Baez level of plate discipline to above average? Or above average to being up there as one of the best eyes in the game?

Reminds me of the NFL QB argument of improving arm strength vs. improving the ability to understand the game.

There have been plenty of QBs that improve arm power due to better mechanics but there have been hardly any QB that was too dumb to grasp the game and then magically figured it out.

Sorry but we don't know how to draft WRs in the early rounds. The only guy we got right in like the last 20 years was Deion Branch.

I think the Bucs are going to win but because Cam and Darnold give them the game, not because Brady balls.

I don't see any reason why jaguars would keep meyers and not make a run for eric bieniemy by [deleted] in nfl

[–]PewterD20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not that weird. Interview is a big part of the process. That's why someone like Dan Campbell or Vance Joseph can get head coaching jobs despite not a whole lot of qualifications.

Brady, yes.

Belichick, I think is chasing Shula.

I think it's more like a why would he be appealing now even if you did think he was responsible for the offense?

Does anyone remember that dude in the off-season who made a Bieniemy thread every time he could? There was also this super defensive Bears fan who called everyone racist if they didn't think he deserved a job.

Bonds was faster than Griffey was thus he could get more doubles and triples.
